Sony Pictures Classics also picked up Between The Temples, comedy starring Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane about a Jewish Cantor who teaches prayers to Bah Mitzvah students, and is going through a crisis a faith until he gets a new adult student ... His grade school music teacher.

 

This feels like it is going to be one of the most such biggest "big summer movie" years in a long long time just in sheer number of big franchise films. From May to September you got:

What are we thinking are going to be the Barbie and Oppenheimer of this summer? It's gonna be Deadpool and Furiosa right?

 

I think they kind of screwed up having “Twisters” out in July and not earlier, like in May. Seems like a perfect dumb movie to kick off the summer. And also coming out a week before “Deadpool and Wolverine” - that’s gonna be rough.

I left it out but I am very curious if Horizon ( the two part epic Western movie that Kevin Costner left Yellowstone to do) is going to be a huge outta nowhere success or not. Costner has a terrible record for big theatrical epics ( Waterworld, The Postman), but at the same time there is a huge market the kind of stuff he makes right now. I could see it going either way.

 

There’s also some pretty promising original stuff like “Hit Man” and “Longlegs.” Summer was destined to be a little thin with the strike last year.
