Oh god I forgot that right AFTER winning the Rumble Cody points at Reigns and starts yelling at him, setting the stage! And then like 10 days later it’s all “just kidding, maybe see you this summer”

 

I’ve kinda gotten numb to Reigns being the never ending champ. So him facing The Rock is a cool nostalgic thing for me. I know I’m in the minority with that. But Cody v Reigns does nothing for me. So at least give me the nostalgia I guess.

 

The more I think about it, Reigns title run is similar to Hogan 96-97. Hogan didn’t wrestle on half of the PPV’s and his matches were highly predictable/shitty filled with tons of interference. The only difference is Hogan briefly put Luger over in the middle of his run for like 3 days and I think Hogan probably wrestled a bit more lol

 

I mean, there is a legit large amount of the wwe audience that has never seen him wrestle or baaaaarely remembers his matches with Cena from a decade ago.

So you have kids that know him from movies and hopefully they really like him from that and that carries over. But if those kids are wrestling fans as well, they’ve watched Cody for almost two years now and he’s a huge face and finally gets revenge on Roman! And oh wait why is the Jungle Book guy here, wait where is Cody going why is he sad?

Kids will cheer if that’s what they’re parents or whoever they watch with are cheering, but there’s gotta be a lot of confused kids who don’t understand why the movie star is replacing the wrestler they see every week for years and that could go terribly for at least Rock’s ego.

 

Enjoying the mess. I also wanna know whose idea it was to have Seth and Roman spend the last week burying each other's title for no ostensible reason. Now you've drilled it into kayfabe that Roman's holding a political title that never gets defended and Seth is holding a loser's bracket trophy that only exists because of the politics surrounding Roman.

The Rock winning the title would be the funniest fucking thing that could happen, unless of course Priest cashes in on the Rock and wins it off him.

 

The bloodline story being a mess isn’t Cody’s fault though. That’s on booking continuing to beat the dead horse

Who says the title is involved? Cody says he’s coming for the belt…just not at WM. Roman v Rock may we’ll be non-title, which is hilariously the best outcome we can hope for at this point.

Roman losing to the Rock at WM and no longer being tribal chief followed by solo abandoning him and Cody unifying the belts at Summerslam is still a dumb arc, but it’s best case.

I also think Rock is 100% winning. You don’t inject yourself into all of this to just eat a pin at WM. He wins at WM and sets up his WM41 match on the Raw/SD after

 

If Rock is getting shoved down our throats, I at least hope he’s working on his cardio. Him huffing and puffing through that return promo was rough. He can have all the muscles in the world, but his basic move set is gonna gas him in minutes unless he’s just gonna do a bunch of rest holds.

 

I know this doesn’t do much for cardio but he seemed to be in amazing shape, not quite as huge as before. He also looked really old without all that movie make up on.

 

They wanted full mainstream and now got it.
