When was the last entertaining and good Roman match? And now add in someone who can’t wrestle

 

Fuckin’ hell, Rock is gonna win and somehow turn Reigns face in the progress. It keeps getting hypothetically worse lol

 

The Fightful Select article is apparently wild. I haven't read it yet, but word is current creative at WWE is very unhappy with the decision and fought against it. Read a post that claimed they're hoping the negative reaction forces another pivot back to Cody

ok I read the article and yeah, it seems internally they are not happy and there's a loss of trust that happened very quickly

some compared it to when Vince was in charge and would change stuff on the fly

Sounds like Cody found out on Friday, but before traveling to the show

 

It still would have sucked shit but from a story perspective having Punk win the Rumble would have at least given this some logical story to tell. Punk wins the Rumble, says he was gonna choose Roman, Rock takes his place, mirroring what Punk felt he did 11 years earlier.

And not that it would be good but then once Punk came back you theoretically could have him get his win back against Rock as a final bit of small redemption.

 

I dont see The Rock beating Roman. Especially if a title is involved. The Rock will put Roman over. Maybe Cody faces Roman in 3 weeks at Elimination Chamber and wins, but as of know Roman isn't scheduled to be there. Maybe this is the swerve needed as Punk is out of Perth and Rollins? But Cody winning at chamber around 8am and not 1130pm at Mania is just not a good finish to a title change like thus.
Mania may be Seth vs Drew with Drew winning, but Damian immediately cashing in and taking it from Drew. Drew fueds with Judgement Day and Seth takes a break. IF Cody takes title at Chamber, he moves to Smackdown. New fueds with AJ, Knight, and then Orton at Summerslam.

 

It sounds like Cody is wrestling Rollins at mania. And then the earliest we’d see Cody wrestle Roman is Summerslam. And something that was talked about by some people was unifying the belts

 

I wonder if Dwayne overestimated how blindly loved he was by wrestling fans.

 

Unifying the titles is a poor decision. Rollins has only held it and I guess Cody if he wins. Basically downplays the entire belt thing.

 

Everything that’s happening to Cody is funny to me because he’s a TRAITOR

 

I was wondering this. There’s some precedent for it with the Yes Movement but it’ll depend on how the live crowds react.

 

Hope the rock tears his abs again and Drew just keeps making his TikTok videos

Cody winning the belt is just as lame as Reigns retaining.

 

I could back this. I personally don't love Cody. Don't dislike him, but just not too interested in finishing his story. I feel like he is shoved down our throats just like Roman was. His skills are great though and he's growing on me. 22/23 wasn't a huge fan, but he's grown on me.

 

The whole “finish the story” thing is very cringe and very ironic imo. Their insistence on making Cody’s signing a big deal last year ruined the best storyline the company has had in years. The Bloodline thing was an actual story. It was long and drawn out but done well. Until Cody showed up. Then they rushed to finish it and shoved Cody into the spotlight.

I don’t hate Cody. He’s just boring. The most generic wrestling character.

and how did they rush to the finish if the bloodline story still isn’t even done?

 

Reigns has held the belt for so long that when he finally drops the title it’s gonna have to be a special moment. And while I knew they’d never do it, Sami doing it last year would’ve been that special moment. But instead they wrapped up their red hot storyline before their biggest show of the year and threw Cody into the mix. It just made no sense to me.

 

It’s not technically done but it’s basically ruined and lost its mojo. They botched it hard.

 

Cody IS shoved down throats because that's probably what he signed on for. Or, was the reason he signed anyways. I do wonder how long he had duscussed to hold the belt for. I don't think we're seeing anyone break Roman's record of days especially if he beats Hogan's.
