Nothing crazy. Just a few games on Steam. Wouldn't exactly call it "gaming." Not sure it would be able to handle any hardcore gaming as it is, haha.

Haha yeah. That's what I meant. The one I have right now is an old mini with Intel HD graphics. Thinking about getting a new one; aside from indies I probably just want to run Starcraft 2 and XCOM2 (and Civ6 but that might be stretching it) decently

PS probably should also mention I have a mini because I play around with Xcode. If someone here wants to start programming I highly recommend Swift 3.

Xcom 2 had pretty bad performance across the board on PC/Mac on release. It might be better now but it was an utter mess at launch. I'm playing Shadowrun Returns atm on my 2015 macbook and performance is grand.

Still think it would have been cool if they released a black version, but I'm sure that has to be in the works for at some point down the road.

That's insane. That's like the #1 every security expert says to never do over text.

Edit: something seems sketchy there.. Google says Apple will never ask you for that information over text.

I find that the glass ones don't bubble. My wife used to always put the film ones and I could tell there was a bubble in some spots.

I complained to @AppleSupport on Twitter and they asked me to send them a message regarding this. The issue which I was having in the chat was resolved and completely unrelated, but I want someone to take note. Horrible practice for Apple. I work with Dell ProSupport and they NEVER ask for login information when we send our work laptops off to get repaired.

I use MacBook pro for basic stuff, Civ 5 on lower resolutions, that kind of thing. There aren't really any good solutions available right now, All the graphics cards available in the current models are old as hell.

Then again we're 2 days from new models so here's hoping they put some decent chips in them.

They probably going to announce the death of the Mac Line. Long live the iPad.

Who will develop all of the iPad apps if there are no Macs?

Xcode is coming to the iPad Pro!!!!

  12. They probably asked in case you have file vault turned on and if that is on they can't run any tests on your machine after it's repaired

How does Youtube not have an iMessage app yet?

I call bullshit, every Mac has a built in diagnostics GUI that doesn't require a login. They can also boot into Recovery mode. FileVault is also on by default I think.

  15. That's a pretty basic diagnostics but the more in depth diags need the disk to unlock

I'm still skeptical on this, in order for the iPad to ever be a truly viable development platform they have to open up the filesystem in a way that iOS was fundamentally constructed to prevent.

Yeah I was just being a sarcastic asshole. I know nothing about any of this stuff.

Regardless, it still breaks Apple company policy. They state they will never ask for such information over plain text.

  19. I love my iPad Pro, but it definitely doesn't beat out using a MacBook. Even just for researching and writing papers

I sent them that along with the screenshot from my chat with the representative to @AppleSupport on Twitter asking for a follow up. Curious to see what they say back.

I'm have to use vi on a fairly regular basis to edit configs on servers and this has occurred to me as a potential problem. But I don't use it often enough and if this is the sacrifice I have to make to get touch ID on my laptop I guess I can live with it

I just realized....the keycaps on that keyboard are the ones on the MacBook keyboard, not the MacBook Pros....

I swear to god if they put the MacBook switches in the pro lineup I will lose my mind
