Regarding voting -- I hate Biden, but I'm *somewhat* confident that I won't see him floating the idea of banning entry to the US on anyone who doesn't declare Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior.

I'm actually confident that, if elected, Biden would hold office a maximum of 4 years.

I'm also confident that - thanks to hologram/AI technology and the unwavering love of Christians nationwide - Trump would attempt to hold office until at least a few years after his death, so I'm certainly keeping that in mind when voting.

Time to arm the polar bears. It is their 2nd amendment right to bear arms.

Still think getting a third party/more left voting bloc in mainly the House and also the Senate (harder of the two) is a easier task to achieve and its ability to drive change heightened more than a third party President.

I agree this is a wonderful idea, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I think a lot of the issue though this country and everyone involved in politics is built on hyping the big shiny object that is the Presidency. I mean how much fucking money has been spent/wasted on third party Presidential runs the past few elections. I am sure the DC folks love that but imagine if all that cash was spent on getting House members elected to hold a third party bloc.

It'll get easier to do if we can get more states to adopt ranked choice voting so people can feel confident in voting for a 3rd/indy candidate but also rank the dem above the repub or whatever so they don't split the vote and give the W to the GOP.

I did see a study recently that said Ranked Choice does hurt voter access a little bit because it confuses voters, and also showed that voters don't seem to get better at it as time goes on and familiarity increases. But even if that were the case, I think I still prioritize doing it over not to give us more of a chance non dem and gop candidates get elected.

It's kind of wild to look at the list of third party/independents elected officials on Wiki. It looks like after the 50's it drops off a cliff for House members. Seems like there was a stronger history with larger numbers going back from them.

If you want to be involved, but are (understandably) jaded by the two choices at the top of the ticket, focus on the races closer to home. You have more power over who is guiding your kids' education or what resources get devoted to mental health care & addiction treatment than which country we bomb next.

This reminded me of one of the weirdest things to happen in politics---HRC going on I think the Breakfast Club and claiming she always has a bottle of hot sauce in her bag. And then like months or years later we found out it was actually true. IDK what's funnier--that it actually was true, OR the possibility that once she said it, she had to spend the rest of her life with one in her bag just in case someone tried to call her on it in the future.
