I was lukewarm on Pol Roger at first but now it's in my top 3 on the record and I'd almost put it up there with Dizzy and 23.

Pol Roger is definitely my favourite song on here at this point. I adore the verses.

I'm usually pro ranking but in this thread it's hilariously out of hand

  9. Yeah, same here. I guess you could say all this is starting to rankle.

Yea, I think ranking is an absolute waste of time when it's just a list. It's the same as posting "+1 post" to me. If people added some context to it as to why things are ranked as they are i am personally more on board. You can actually understand why it's ranked that way or see their thought process.

Someone ranked all the Brand New songs in the their thread and it was the worst post I've ever seen.

  11. Brand New fans wonder why they have a reputation for being obsessive, and then this happens.

Genuinely didn't even notice that he actually sings it in the song, ha.

I finally had a chance to listen to the whole album all the way through a few times while painting my daughter's room. It is an absolutely amazing album. So many different moments stand out. Almost every song hit me right away as being fantastic right off the bat, but then there are just so many great little flourishes and moments that really put it over the top.

Every single song has grown on me with the exception of 'Pass The Baby'. I still think it was a cool idea and I respect them for going for it, but as a song I really don't think the whole thing works and hangs together, and musically I don't enjoy that last part at all. It really just sounds like late 90's radio hard rock, like Soundgarden or Metallica to me. Plus, the lyrics seem to be about something entirely different and separate from all the rest of the lyrics on the entire album. I definitely prefer 'My Enemy' as a song.

That really is a minor quibble though, and I wouldn't call 'Pass The Baby' a bad song by any means. I really do enjoy the middle third a lot where the instruments all kick in but before that last part.

I love that "Through" is an editor's choice on Apple Music and, aside from the singles, is one of the most popular tracks from IB on Spotify given it almost didn't make the record at all.

I love how candid Zach's interview was as well. It's a refreshing trend to see musicians be so upfront about how unglamorous and not shrouded in mystery the business actually is.

Yeah, I was curious as to why it had so many more streams on Spotify than the other non pre-releases (over double). Turns out "Through" was featured on Spotify's New Music Friday playlist so that's why it's getting a lot. But you're right, funny how that's the song that got placement and it almost didn't make the record.

I definitely dig the outro to Pass the Baby but I'd dig it a lot harder if it shared some context or similarities with the rest of the song. It's just kinda tacked on there

Easily the lowest points of the record for me as well.

I'm actually surprised the apparently out-of-context lyrics haven't been brought up by more listeners.
