I'm not sure how much time had passed from season's 2-3 and then 3-4 but between those seasons are the only instances where there is a time jump I believe. I'd say 3 years max if I had to guess.

Having seen this episode now, I wish they would have ended S6 with showing a glimpse that it was Abe that got the bat. That way we know he was dead, could still be sad for him all summer and wait to see how the group reacts come fall. Then start off S7 with the Daryl punch and Negan killing Glenn to really shock fans that think he would have made it.

But that's the last thing I'll say about S6, that's done with, can't change it, and now we're off to an intense S7 with one of the best characters. I'm excited!

Well, the schedule according to The Spoiling Dead is as follows:

Episode 2 (originally this was going to be episode 3 but they recently switched the order. My assumption is to give the audience a break from Negan's dark reign of terror by showing us some light first with The Kingdom) - Carol and Morgan at The Kingdom with King Ezekiel.

Episode 3 - Daryl at the Savior's complex, "The Sanctuary". So we'll get our introduction here into Negan and the Saviors' world through Daryl's eyes.

Episode 4 - Alexandria - Negan comes knocking for his first offering from Alexandria's residents.

    Episode 5 - Hilltop

Episode 6 - Tara episode catching up with what she's been up to out in the wilderness (poor Tara has no idea about anything yet)

    Episode 7 - Sanctuary, Alexandria

Episode 8 (midseason finale wherein we are getting another death from the comics that fans will be familiar with) - Alexandria, Hilltop, The Sanctuary

That sounds really interesting. I don't know if it's just me, but I like an episode focusing on a certain part of the story instead of an ep having like 15 mins each divided to showing all the different story beats going on. I feel like you get more character and development that way.

It's worse seeing it all listed. Poor Maggie.

Not only that but her family didn't get eaten by zombies or anything, but her dad was beheaded in front of her and her husband had his head beaten into nothing in front of her too.

Yeah I was actually waiting for someone to take the picture. Figured once he saw the pictures in the episode last season, it would act as foreshadowing in a way.

EDIT: looking at the picture, when does Glenn hold that board with the pictures? I thought the only time we see them is when they are infiltrating one of the Savior's bases and he is about to kill the second guy in the room, asleep.

Also, an entire episode dedicated to Tara? Yuck. She's not as bad at acting as Carl is, but she's close enough to where I'm already dreading that episode hah.

Haha, he's not holding it. It's a split screen - with a black line between the two.

Well just know you will be seeing Negan much sooner rather than later and a LOT of him.

As far as Tara is concerned, I am a little worried about one possible development. In the season seven trailer we see her out on her run wherein she encounters this:

Some comic fans have noted the eye and nose holes on some of these walkers because they look like the Whisperers. On top of that, AMC also just recently released this poster:

with the tagline "You've been warned."

Which, again, if you are familiar with the comics than that should look and sound awfully familiar. I really hope they don't rush this storyline if that is indeed what is happening here.

Edit: There was also this from a few years ago (though it could of course just be taken as the crazy ramblings of an insane man at the time):

Some of these twitter accounts I'm like do these people not have jobs or school or what? How do you even have the time to catch stuff like that and put it all together.

honestly was kind of a boring episode outside of the deaths. this show does a good job of dragging things on way longer than they need to be.

I try to respect everyone's opinions, but I thought this was about as good of a premiere as it could have been after that clusterfuck of a finale. I didn't think it dragged at all because it was so emotionally draining, they did a good job at letting us feel the shock and loss the characters were experiencing.

Unrelated, but the whole fog in the RV trip scene though made it seem so dreamlike too.

I got weary and light headed when Negan counted down. Carl looking up at his dad and saying "do it" was intense.

I was pretty jaded towards the deaths but that scene definitely gave me some of the nervousness I had during Negan's intro in the finale

the reviews aren't kind to season 7 so far. I'm interested to see how they get their revenge. I know it's going to take all season if not longer, but I would love if they got their revenge in about 3 or 4 episodes.

Yeah I doubt that. Negan will be around for 3 or 4 seasons. Maybe more.
