I think Suzy Chapstick is my favorite Green Day song in years

Ya 1981 is fantastic. The melody on the verses is so good.

Bobbie Sox is just a lovely little song

I think "Dilemma" might still be my favorite. Great single choice with that one.

I like how that line about drinking lemonade was probably the most throwaway thing on earth but you could make it about the Panera thing by complete accident.

Kinda like the National line “you can stop and start an athlete’s heart” which was released somewhat close to when that NFL player collapsed from a heart attack on the field.

I don't know about rankings or whatever but on a whole this record is a really nice reminder that Green Day are one of the best American bands to ever exist and you got to be alive during their peak years and lived to see them not embarrass themselves in their 50s.

Best I can do for a review.

Swap Warning and Nimrod and this is basically my list.

I don't listen to album leaks but I do have to agree that this has already been their best album cycle in years, probably since 21st Century. Amazing promo that seems to really be working and the band feels genuinely excited to promote the album for the first time in so long

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

the "make our dead friends blush" line is so Gerard Way, I love it

Echoing the sentiment that this is easily their best work since 21CB, and it's not even close. I don't mind Revolution Radio, but Saviors is a much better record overall. It's a great feeling to be genuinely into a new Green Day album for the first time in a long time.

I wonder how this will do compared to One More Time sales/streaming wise?

I keep wanting to sing “she’s gonna bang her head like 1984” and not 1981.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it goes number one. The band has been killing it with promotion and been everywhere to promote it, compared to Blink mainly being word of mouth by the fans. Also a lot of Blink fans bought the album twice since they added two new songs to the record a few days after its release so maybe that’s why it shot to number one.

But it’s also January, and this is arguably the first big release of the year so I could see it doing real well.

I’m sure the media outrage over the MAGA comments shined a nice light on them too.

    For instance,

two of my friends texted me they didn’t know Green Day had a new album coming out until after they heard about the media outrage stuff.

I know….two people will make all the difference in album sales…

Price of the 180 gram deluxe vinyl dropped on Target and Amazon. Decided to pull the trigger on a copy!

Same!!! It’s gotta be because “four” and “her” are close phonetically, even if they don’t actually rhyme.
