I’m actually really excited for this. Feels like a song that could benefit from an extended mix, the instrumental track at the end is really bangin.

I can never tell anymore. Unless it’s hip hop, pop-country or Taylor (or TikTok pop) it doesn’t seem to make a dent on the charts anymore.

Like I think it’s doing good but I’ve never heard it anywhere in public yet.

 

It's also hard to tell because it was just released and now Christmas music has taken over the charts. Houdini debuted at #11 and has fallen each week down to #52 now, but at least 26 of those are Christmas songs, do it's kinda like #26 adjusted

 

I feel like I hear Dance The Night everywhere but haven't heard Houdini in the wild yet.

Houdini is also growing on me. I kinda felt like when the song was released we were close to an album announcement but it’s been mostly crickets in terms of music/album news since. I hope her and her team weren’t dismayed by the, uh how should I put it, lack of immediate success with Houdini (which the smashes on Future Nostalgia also had, a lack of immediate success)

 

Don't forget that her debut also has "lack of immediate success." New Rules was the album's 7th single

 

Just as I sent that I see there’s a live audio version of Houdini coming out tonight, here’s a snippet. They turned it into a rock song by the end haha.

Yeah the album would probably have never come out if it wasn't for that song's unexpected success. It had already been delayed for close to two years

 

she cites influences like Primal Scream and Massive Attack for this record, which sounds amazing. wondering how it'll all sound.
