Forced to compare FOAM to The Ghost Of Tom Joad.

I feel like The Seeger Sessions is Springsteen's closest to FOAM. Similar "Why the fuck is this what you're choosing to do?" energy.

Finished my Green Day discog run.

Honestly a wild experience. I grew up with Kerplunk and Dookie when I was a kid and then kind of checked out for years. Fell in love with Warning in high school then blown away by American Idiot in college and then not much after that stuck with me.

But these past few weeks doing the discog run, found gems (and weaknesses) in all the albums. Also, the first time ever I gave the time of day to Revolution Radio and FOAM and dare I say…I really enjoyed both. Having read this website for the last several years I would have thought FOAM was criminally bad, but honestly outside of the first two tracks, I liked it. Expectations were obviously rock bottom though.

    gun to head I’d go:

    Warning
    American Idiot

    Dookie
    Kerplunk
    Nimrod

    Revolution Radio
    21st Century

    FOAM

    Trilogy

    Insomniac

    39/Smooth

Insomniac being that low is the only glaring issue with the list.

I’m glad you have Kerplunk so high. That album absolutely rules and I feel like it gets lost sometimes

this is from last page but there are SO many consistent double albums, they are not hard to find

    triple albums however

(i’m a huge fan of sandinista and emancipation)

I’ll tell you what, U Springin’ Springsteen On My Bean has definitely made me reconsider the bottom of my catalog rankings, to the benefit of Human Touch and the detriment of High Hopes, which I’m now definitely prepared to call his worst album.

i always hated that one. the album they really made me reevaluate and soured me on was working on a dream. and as for the opposite it made me appreciate the river more.

I've always been pretty lukewarm on Working on a Dream, so my opinion on it didn't change much. I remembered liking High Hopes though, and then had the thought listening to that podcast: "Wow, this album sucks!" Their enthusiasm for Magic made me appreciate that album even more, though.

I adore like half the songs on high hopes lol, I particularly love the wall, down in the hole, and 41 shots

Went to a listening party at Bucket O Blood Records in Chicago….

Quick thoughts: album is aggressive. For a 45 minute/15 song album, the songs get in and out which is cool. Bobby Sox and Coma City were the non-single songs that immediately popped out for me.
