A fine farewell to Derek.. Upon listening even more today while at work.. Each listen it grows and grows.. I thought I didnt like the guitar tones until I just stuck with headphones and.. yeah.. I still keep saying this is a great headphone record.

 

Break and Shake With Me are my two early favorites. I got the chills listening to the songs.

Chills during the chorus of Break and then when Dan comes in on Shake With Me.

This keeps getting better for me. Definitely the most cohesive album from them in a long long time.

 

Hot For Preacher rips. Lives up to the title.

 

I've been scouring the internet looking for this thing- reading all of these impressions are so equally exciting and frustrating! where did you guys find this album!!

Favorite line from Dan, from "Shake With Me" but the () is the unsure part.

 

The more I listen, the more it grows on me. Great album! This is exactly the sort of thing I want out of these guys. The first listen was nice but it gets better the more time I give it.

 

Damn, if I liked the production a lot more this would absolutely be my favorite ALK3 record since Crimson for sure. I know I know - dead horse - but it’s true.

Regardless, I still might get this on vinyl. These songs are real good.

 

"Break" is very AFI. Good record.

 

Yea I just realized that yesterday too.
The guitar and then once the whoaas starts,the melody reminds me 17 crimes for some reason.

 

Listened through twice but going to hold off further until release coz higher quality - seems like there's a lot of detail!
I think this may be the most varied Trio release since A&I. Between the intricate riffs, spookiness, kinda upbeat chordy Dan songs, Matt playing classic Matt parts, both popping in and out of each others tunes... it's got a healthy mix of classic and modern Trio. I dig!

 

Bought the eyeball shirt and it showed up yesterday. So ready for this album.

 

“Broken Down In A Time Machine” is a quintessential Dan song.

 

Yeah I totally agree. It doesn't sound bad or anything I just wish everything was...thicker?

 

What’s wild to me is that Cameron Webb produced both this record and their last full length - Is This Thing Cursed?

Cursed is a little hit or miss for me but I LOVED the production/mixing on it. Had they gone with that again for this album? I would be praising this record all day long. Idk what the band was thinking lol

I’ll probably pick up a copy at my local record store on release day to show support nonetheless.

 

I really don’t think the mix is THAT bad on this.

 

It isn’t. At all.

 

It’s not the worst thing ever but does it stifle the record? In my opinion? Yup lol

 

I don’t know that guitar on Hot For Preacher is pretty beefy and loud.I actually like the mix better than on past couple of records

 

It’s important to complain about production and mixing on every album in this day and age. Otherwise, what is the internet even for?
