very cool that Sting requested the bucks as his last match and they jumped on it. They were going to be out for quite a bit longer but returned early for him

He was told they’d pay absolutely anyone in any non-WWE company that he chose and he went with them

 

Cody being in the match would be a good way to mask the Rock’s in ring ability if they really want him involved

 

all rock has to do is throw some punches take a few bumps and hit like 4 signature moves/poses

 

Tbf Meltzer didn’t say Roman/Rock is happening at Mania, just that Roman isn’t set to appear at EC and he’d presume that Roman/Rock is happening at Mania. Right now he still doesn’t know

Apparently Rock has a bunch of promotion shit leading up to Mania and after for that football league. So, maybe they do end up doing it in Australia


My personal ideal match between them is non-title and make it similar to HHH/Sting where it involves essentially every living member of that family in some capacity

 

They're very close to selling it out from what I know. I think the whole thing was that the Australian government was apparently willing to throw a ton of money to get the rock on the show

• 1 POINT FOR EACH "PARTICIPANT"
  this can be a solo wrestler or a team/faction. Basically, anything you'd put a "versus" after.
  (eg. FTR would count for one point in a tag match, and a Survivor Series team would count for one as well)
• 2 POINTS FOR A STIPULATION MATCH
  just needs to both modify the rules of a standard singles match (can't be "first time ever" or "dream match", etc.) and also be billed and/or present on the matchup graphic. If a stipulation is added during the show itself, it will be automatically factored into scoring for all.
• 3 POINTS FOR A TITLE MATCH
  does not matter the championship, From FTW to 24/7
• BRASS RINGS
  scored as individually stated.

we will do WWE, AEW, ROH, and TNA for now. your total score will be calculated by Shrek and posted by the end of the following Tuesday.

If the options are hold Cody off until 2025 or make it a triple threat, I think I'd honestly take the latter. Two bad options, though.

It's going to be really hard to keep people invested in Cody's story for another full year, though. Maybe you make him the guy to dethrone Gunther at Mania or something. That would still feel like a consolation prize, though. There's really no good answer here if they're hell bent on the Rock/Reigns match.

Cody winning the mid card belt in WWE would be very funny since he booked himself out of the AEW title and held that TNT belt hostage towards the end because of it

I’d say the time for his story has already passed; but he’s still way over. If it’s at WM or Summerslam, it still works either way.

Yeah, I sort of felt like this year's Mania would be a perfect crescendo, but I don't know how long they can keep the investment in "finishing the story" going. I agree that they could just shift it to SummerSlam, but it still feels like a WrestleMania story to me, even though they're trying to build up the other shows as major stadium events.

The only difference with him winning something like the IC title is that, obviously, he hasn't put himself into a position where he has to literally break his word to go win the world title later. But I agree that you run the risk of sectioning him off into something that feels like his own universe.

I don't know. It's a weird situation. I totally get why they want The Rock match. Hell, I want The Rock match. It's a cool story. Nothing Rock could do would make even half the amount of sense that facing Reigns does. It's a story that writes itself in a lot of ways. But the Cody pipe-bomb jokes and memes have a real point.
