Without spoilers, for anyone that's watched it, why does Castlevania Nocturne have such a low audience score and seems to be getting so much hate? I am in the 4th season of the first collection, and wow, what a wild, bonkers, and incredibly enjoyable ride (so far - but I don't doubt the last 10 episodes will stick the ending). I was unsure on season 3 with how fractured and unfocused it seemed at first, but it came together nicely. Wondering what it is about the new series that seems to be so hated? I'll still watch it anyway and make up my own mind.

You can make that argument about anywhere. “It’s better when I’m alone, away from people.” Unfortunately we live in a society and that’s reality. Theaters are one of the few communal spaces that you get to experience art in a group-setting. I don’t want to go off about the cultural importance of something like that because it really should be self-explanatory. Couple that with how the very existence of theaters (vs stream-at-home-movies) impacts what kinds of films are being produced, I don’t want to imagine how awful of a world it would be if the theater industry died.

i would even venture to say that anti-theater people are a good example of how selfish we've all become

Thankfully I haven't had too many bad movie experiences, but during Wonka last weekend, 2 girls were talking the whole time. They were far enough away that I could hear it, but not close enough to get truly angry. There was a couple in between me and the 2 girls, and I don't know how they didn't lose it on them.

I am definitely a fan of going to the movies in general. I live in a apartment with a small(ish) TV, and am afraid to truly crank the sound bar up because neighbors, so seeing a movie on a huge screen with rip roaring sound is fantastic for me. I think even if I had a house with a better set up, I'd still enjoy going to the movies. It's a break from the scenery of home, and a relatively cheap event just to get out of the house. I also have a movie theater in walking distance so it's a perfect Friday or Saturday night to take a short walk, get some fresh air, grab a beer at the theatre bar and then enjoy.

If wanting to watch a movie without people having conversations, using their phones, vaping and, a truly astonishing amount of times, throwing up makes me selfish then hell yeah dude me me me

I think theatres should still exist, but I also think all movies should have a simultaneous VOD release. Give people the option.

if people are talking or using their phone you should just tell them to stop lol idk why people are so weird about that! we all bought tickets! demand some respect from your fellow audience members!

as far as vaping and throwing up go, that's less common I guess

I like going to the theater sometimes, maybe went like 4 times in 2023 at most, but it feels like a chore since its 30 min to the closest AMC or equivalent. Also its way more expensive now. I can get way more value out of the streaming services I already pay for on top of all the at home conveniences.

Also probably unpopular opinion but I'm a 'no food at the theater' guy. Can't stand the sound of people chewing and ruffling through their bags of candy/pop corn especially during quieter scenes. Runs me up a wall.

kind of agree here and during the early days of the pandemic when same day VOD started, I expected it to be much more expensive than like, $25 or whatever it usually is

there's plenty of reasons to personally not want to go to a theater and watch things at home

demanding the death of the industry is dumb as hell, IMO

everyone's situation is different and yeah being kinda far from a theater makes it more annoying, but I did the math on my AMC A-List subscription and at $22/month, I ended up spending on average less than $5 per movie ticket in 2023

I’m privileged enough to have an AMC theater five minutes away and be a part of A-List. I go to the movie a lot and maybe have a couple of bad audiences a year. I am truly astonished when people talk about multiple bad experiences. It always sounds like they went to a dank theater on Skid Row in the 80s.

We had to take my nephews to see “Migration” over Christmas and let me tell you, it was a bad movie, but a decent nap.

This. Just stay home if you prefer it. To say theaters shouldn’t exist just because you had a bad experience as an employee is like saying museums shouldn’t exist because people are rowdy or taking photos in the exhibits.

When I go to see a movie alone, I honestly only go on a weekday afternoon when I know the theatre will be almost empty.

I would have to be like one of those freaks that goes to a theater just to buy their absurdly expensive, disgusting, entirely salt flavored popcorn to take home

I stopped going to theaters because audiences have gotten terrible. I miss it a lot. I also just can’t afford it, even A-List. So to spend money for a movie that I won’t be able to hear doesn’t really make sense for me right now. And yes, I have tried saying something and/or getting employees. Audiences (movie theater, concert, Broadway, anywhere) have just become so grossly entitled
