They’re going all out with the FF remasters/remakes

I’d like to see the 13 trilogy get touched up a bit and re-released

Then we still have the rumored 9 remaster and a potential 10 remake

 

Final Fantasy IX-2 is the sequel we know we all need. Starring Vivi's kids.

 

I figured Hi Fush would be marketed out. It’s such a fun game and would do well on the Switch. Hell, bring it to PS.

Has there been even a whisper about a FF8 remake even being considered? I assume there hasn’t if I even have to ask. But man, I would kill for that remake.

 

I don’t think there’s ever been a mention of it. I’d imagine there’s more of an interest in an 8 remake than 9 but maybe I’m wrong.

I don’t think we’ve even heard many rumors about 9 outside of the NVIDIA leak (but to be fair that leak has been super spot on)

Yeah I don’t really know which one would have more interest. I feel like I’ve always seen more love for 9 over the years though, but that obviously doesn’t mean shit. I think 8 needs a remake more than 9, but I’d be happy if both happened.

GIving a shoutout to what I feel is one of the most underrated games of all time

 

Upgraded my hard drive this morning. Got a 4 TB m.2 ssd. It was my first time opening up a PC of this caliber and needing to remove then reattach the GPU and power supply, it very quickly got me to understand how it all works, I really liked working on the upgrade myself.

 

FF9 is by far my favorite FF game, so if they’re remaking anything else my vote is for that one

Just checking in to report this: I suspected this from the beginning, but I love that Josette Capua returns and confirms that the main town of the game where the branch campus was built was indeed the land that she and her brothers had lost long ago, a story that has been told and retold in almost every single game in the series. It's nice that the story ultimately turned out if not exactly for the best, as a positive.

 

iirc the issue with a potential 8 remake is that (I think I heard?) most of the staff that worked on 8 also worked on 7, so when it comes to their priorities right now... whereas 9 had different staff who would theoretically be free.

if we were gonna get an 8 remake, it would presumably be after 7 is fully finished, when the staff (Kitase and Nojima seem to be 2 big shared names looking at Wikipedia) would be free.

i do wonder whether common fan consensus regarding 8 being Not So Loved might scare Square off though. 8 is definitely the game that probably most "needs" a remake, if only to fix the balancing of the game (yes yes "don't grind the junction system and actually level up and the balancing is fine" but when the most optimal solution in a JRPG is "never level" it seems a bit broken no?)

 

I always liked the balls of 8 to do such dramatically different things with RPG tropes. Like instead of getting money from combat, you actually got paid at regular intervals. And instead of replacing your weapon, you just built upon the one you already had.

 

Yeah 8 was a brave attempt at switching up systems, they weren't implemented that well but if they remade it they could definitely enhance and improve what 8 did back in the day I would be so down.

I recently finished FF IX again and it's great but god i find the pacing of the story so odd, the last quarter of the game is on such a different note and it didn't feel very fluid. I think playing in FF also had something to do with that tho lol.
