  2. If it’s all broken up into individual episodes, it’s gonna get cluttered reeeeal fast

They should just make an offshoot for tv. Tv shows being on there really seems like it'll be messy.

  5. Apparently there’s been talks of having its own standalone app vs all in one app. So hopefully it’s the former so I don’t have to see when someone I follow is logging every episode of a MASH binge watch.

  6. Even if it’s all in one app, they’ll probably have a filter option on the feed. I’m all in on Trakt for TV at this point and I doubt I’ll change that.

myanimelist (letterboxd for anime) separates shows by seasons which I think works pretty well.

There's already some shows on Letterboxd anyway

Old man yelling at cloud: It’s called Letterboxd for a reason. I don’t mind miniseries and shit, but c’mon.

  9. Miniseries/seasons of TV could be okay. Episodes are wayyyy too much

Yeah I think they should have shows divided into seasons. Not episodes. Episodes would be an overkill.

  11. Just feels like it’d be so easy to have a separate app “by Letterboxd” for this kind of thing. Like Threads or whatever

Yeah I'm cool with the concept as long as there's a way to easily keep movie and TV threads separately. IMDB has let you log TV shows for years and people still use that, so I think there's a way it can be implemented non-disruptively.

  13. All I've heard from them is that they are taking an approach that "won't impact the existing experience."

I feel like they're already playing fast and loose with the definition of movie haha, the Eras tour is a different experience

Yeah I wish there was a way to remove concert films from searches.

idk why they're making a big deal about this, you've been able to log tv for years? maybe not literally every series on tv but quite a few have been on there.

I think people hear tv and assume people are gona be ranking individual episodes. Which would be absurd, and I assume that’s not how they would do it

  18. I mean, it’s like a handful of limited series every year. Not even close to representative of serialized TV.

Who knows what they’ll do, but take a look through the official feedback board item for this feature and you’ll find most people *are* looking for individual episode-level diaries a la Trakt.

for sure. but it isn’t anything. they already do what they’re claiming to launch, even if it’s in a restricted capacity

  20. If they retain show == film at the database level, sure. I kind of doubt that will be the case though. To the film-heads who don’t want TV on LB, it’ll be the same reaction regardless. To the people clamoring for TV, I see it being viewed as a half measure.

Folks want to rate “Forks” and “Teddy Perkins” ★★★★★, not log the same title (the show) every week.

yeah, i mean, i agree with you. they should separate it. just seems like a weird feature for them to make a big deal about.

  22. I think there is actually still a market for a reliable, well-designed TV tracking/logging app, whether it's integrated into Letterboxd or a separate thing. I tried so many different ones before settling on Trakt (and most were just wrappers for the Trakt API anyway), and they were all lacking in some significant way or just didn't fit what I wanted aesthetically.

  23. Totally. I don’t treat TV journaling the same as film, so adding it to Letterboxd isn’t something I need or even want to see. I used the TV Forecast Trakt client just to keep track of where I am in shows and when they’re coming back.

That said… if there was a standalone Letterboxd app specifically made for TV, I’d use it. I think LB’s designers are spectacular and I know that they’d do a great job. My only point of anxiousness comes at the cost of my daily experience in the primary app.
