    Evangelion the one true anime

The “higher-ups” have always been shown like that in their scenes with Gojo, and yep obvious NGE reference. Much of the Mechamaru/Mahito fight had direct visual parallels to it as well

Technically when Sukuna does his DE and they show the girls with the phone that disintegrates, there’s a moment of the two of them talking about the guy with the megaphone, which we saw was Inumaki in the ep where Yuji and Choso fight. It didn’t show him explicitly getting caught in the DE, but technically the manga didn’t either — it just had a single panel showing him in the same general area as the girls with the phone, which yeah is more than the anime but you still had to draw the connection + probably would have just assumed he died without Yuta’s line lol

I think the closest comparison to the end of Shibuya is the end of the Soul Society Arc in Bleach. All that chaos and struggle just for both sides to realize that they’ve been strung along by the true main villain the whole time

It has still never been shown how fake Geto initially teamed up with the disaster curses, and so I’m curious how that would have worked. They all called him Geto and Choso clearly didn’t realize who he was until the end, so they clearly seemed to think that he was the real Geto (to what extent they even knew/appreciated who the real Geto was is also not clear). He would be a particularly fraught ally for them since he’s the one sorcerer who could potentially capture them as if they were just Pokémon lol

  5. so, quick recap of the last couple months or so, I caught up on
    Attack on Titan
    Demon Slayer
    One Punch Man
    Chainsaw Man
    Jujutsu Kaisen
changing gears a little bit, I just started Kakegurui and I already love how unhinged and horny it is

I’m not recommending this based off of any of these shows because they’re not remotely similar, but I highly recommend checking out Frieren. It’s my favorite show of this year and it’s not even close. It might even be in my top 5 of all time already and the first season isn’t even over yet.

Also, I feel like Vinland Saga hasn’t gotten the hype it deserves. Season 1 was a 9/10 and season 2 this year was a 10/10. Peak fiction.

I still need to watch S2. I completely forget which version of the dub I watched though, so that’s annoying. But I guess I may not even remember the voices by now

Just go in with the mindset that it’s vastly different than season one. It got a lot of hate from Shonen fans looking for an action packed show like what season one was and were disappointed. This focuses on characters and themes.

I just recently found out Frieren is directed by the same guy who did Bocchi the Rock and he also worked on Sonny Boy. Three consecutive anime of the years

Visually, JJK season 2 was amazing. The fights and animation are some of the best in anime. But…I still think there are too many characters and the plot is all action with not a lot of developing them.

  14. finished s1 of Devil is a Part Timer, starting Spy x Family. Will probably switch back and forth between those two and Kakegurui every twelve episodes or so. idk why i feel like juggling multiple series right now but eh. I guess I did the same thing watching One Punch Man s2 in between AoT S3 pt 2 and S4

Episode 397… this scene, absolutely hype. And the animation is stellar.

Punched him straight back to the manga. Even all these years later this scene is still so viscerally satisfying.

Absolutely, the walk up and the rage in Luffy's eyes. I love this show and the way they portray Luffy. Even Kid and Law were impressed. So good. It's one of those scenes where you can't help buy go, "OH SHITTT" or something like that haha

Pretty sure I’m the only dub watcher in here, but the first episode of Delicious in Dungeon premiered on Netflix yesterday and Emily Rudd (Nami from live action One Piece) has made her anime dub debut as Marcille. I’ve been following her for awhile and she’s a huge anime fan, so she’s probably stoked about the last couple years.

Also Damien Haas of Smosh for Laios and Sungwon Cho (ProZD on youtube) for Senshi!

The manga is exceptional and it's been a treat seeing it animated.

Started reading Dandadan after the anime announcement and have had a hard time putting it down. The story is such a blast and the character designs are fantastic. My only complaint is that I have to read it on the SJ website instead of the app.

I read it using the Manga Plus app (which I think uses your SJ login)

I also just started reading it the other day. I have most of it downloaded and I’m using my comic/manga reader app, but I’ll have to read the last 20 chapters or so on the SJ site.

But yeah I love it. I wish the anime wasn’t so far away because I’m really excited for it now. Last weekend I started and caught up on Gokurakugai. That’s another great series that I’d highly recommend and it’s on the SJ app.
