Has anyone ever been to one of those listening parties for an album? Did tons of people come or were you just thumbing through records on a normal day?

 

I went to one for the newest Queens of the Stone Age album. There were like 20 people there, we all just kinda hung out and chatted while the album played, and then I won a signed screen print of the album cover

 

It’s a cool thing for bands to do but personally I would never want my first experience hearing an album to be in public with a bunch of other people.

I saw Spanish Love Songs last May and after the show they were playing No Joy in full and I had no desire to stick around. Just not a great atmosphere for a first listen.

 

The lead singer became a nurse and my mom worked with him haha

One Eyed Bastard is such a jam, hope the video is great

 

they were the defacto rock group on Bad Boy Records and even though they were never mainstream they got a bunch of solid placements (godzilla soundtrack, south park chef aid, it's all about the benjamins rock remix + live backing band)

 

So much. Hoping the track takes a detour from that as I'll likely always think of the Pink song with that riff.

 

New song is better than I expected when first hearing the leak a while ago

Came across a youtube link on reddit since it's out in some countries, only hidden since they seem to be going for another global release.

 

Hmmm, Nimrod is WAYYY better than I remember. Legit probably the first time I've listened to this album in 25 years.

 

It definitely/thankfully takes a detour.

OEB is my least favorite of the singles, but I still dig it.

I’m hoping to make one of the Chicago record store listening parties next Saturday - likely at Bucket O Blood.

 

Pink’s So What riff into a generic AFI pre-chorus into early prestige TV referencing chorus. At least it took 4 singles to get this wacky this go-round.

 

Holy shit this song is so goofy and catchy, I fucking love it

From what everyone was saying I expected the exact riff from the Pink song but it only just kinda sounds like it imo

 

Honestly it works for me, despite going straight from "So What" to "867-5309" and I think it almost works for me *because* it's that nakedly shameless.

 

I didn’t understand the “early prestige TV” reference until my third listen. Very apt observation lol.
