Of sugar and ice I am made

I feel like they only come in maybe half the new albums now. Mine definitely still get used, as I don't stream. I'm also a bit of a dinosaur in that I still buy CDs.

  2. I usually forget. I have enough cds that I can just use those in the car, that is, whenever I'm not paying for Spotify. Also I may or may not from time to time ride the open seas, for things I already own in one form or another

I had one last place to stop tonight and mainly to see if they had it... They did!

if i don't have a digital copy already, i'll usually only redeem the ones from Bandcamp, as they'll have guaranteed lossless downloads

I got a copy of dear love and it has no business sounding as good as it does on vinyl

i'll be at their reunion show next year, so i'm hoping that they sell any vinyl.
i'd settle for a copy of 'behind the devil's back'.

Awesome! The pressing of "One Day Son..." is great. That album is amazing!

I remember when that album came out and wanting to grab the vinyl but I heard there was defects all over it.

I guess you can collect all their 7 inch singles. That'd make up for the lack of Grand Unification on vinyl lol.

I’m still waiting on a Bandbox order of an Elliot Smith record I ordered months ago. Same with a Merchbar order for a Pinback and a Paul Simon record. Those weren’t even preorders but just really delayed.

As for preorders, still waiting on the American Analog Set boxset, Forgive Durden, dreamTX, and Hiroshi Yoshimura.

New Kallax set up. I stuffed all the smaller sets into the shelves hence why it looks full.

A friend was telling me about Phillips Hue lightning... Which after looking I told her that I hate that she told me about them... It's the perfect aesthetic for my spot... But they're so expensive!

i'm curious how you handle stacking Kallax units. i've debated doing this when i acquire my next one (which will be sooner rather than later as i'm dipping into the last cube on my second of two units), but the lease for my apartment forbids me from making large holes in the wall for mounting hardware. case in point, we have two rather tall bookshelves in our living room that we have to support with shims since we can't fasten them to the wall. and none of our Kallax units are mounted either, although since they're lower to the ground, it didn't make sense to mount them. i guess i wonder how stable stacking them by themselves would be. i could theoretically move some other stuff out of my living room to set a third next to our TV, but i wanna explore all my options.

TBH nothing is anchored. When I lived in this small apartment in Toronto we used pieces of cardboard to keep the old Ikea cd towers from tipping. But I've never anchored any of my Ikea shelves.

I'm currently at my parents place. I've taken over the basement as my "space" since me and my wife separated 3 months ago... All I know is if things work out and I move back there is definitely no space for that extra Kallax. If things don't work out I'll definitely need to find a place with some decent space. Or have a fire sale haha.

  19. that's five 2x2 and one 2x4? I'm guessing you kept adding 2x2 as your collection grew. hypothetically would you trade four of those 2x2 for one 4x4?

I love my Hue lights (which are just lamps and now my kitchen lights, nothing really near my vinyl setup). The app and ability to use Alexa and change brightness/colors is all really nice. I’m looking forward to doing more automations/maybe adding some motion sensors.

I upgraded from two 2 2x4 units (mismatched Kallax and Expedit) to a 5x5, and it was 100% a great choice.

Yeah I currently have 2 kallax double cubes, and 3 double cubes of some other brand I got back in.....2017? They might be expedit. I like them compared to the kallax because they have a a backing board so they're closed in the back where the kallax is wide open.

oddly enough, the closest in quality i've found to the Kallax is Target's brand. we got my partner a 2x2 for his Magic The Gathering collection, and it's more or less identical to the Kallax, save for a slight difference in dimensions, iirc.

side note: having a partner who buys expensive cardboard as a hobvy while you buy expensive plastic as a hobby makes for some interesting purchasing decisions and opportunities to pass on your habits to your significant other, lmao.

The kallax are on both ends, if you zoom in you can see they're just BARELY taller than the 3 others I have. Besides being open cubes, the only other noticeable difference is the thickness of the sides. I wish I remembered where I got the other cones from, cuz it'd be nice to have an even number to have the correct dimensions for stacking.
