you can tell how badly he wanted to use the term 'gatekeeping'. just a terrible song. ugh.

Yeah, this is really rough, especially coming off of FTHC. Hopefully the rest of the album is better.

his email says he produced this album himself. confidence could not be lower.

With modern Frank he often leans too far into self awareness to the point of it being quite toe curling.

I'll always love those first 5 albums but modern Frank has been so hit and miss for me.

It feels like Green Day did this message with 'Minority' so much better like 25 years ago.

Music, a steady riot in my soul. Prestigious

I definitely like it better without the video, but that isn’t exactly setting a high bar.

I don't hate the song. It isn’t very good, just whatever, but yeah that video definitely made it worse lol

    Jesus, what a shame.

After PSFNP I truly was putting Frank in the Brian Fallon tier for me. Dude released some ridiculously great albums for a long time … but haven’t felt it since 2015.

Yeah, I liked the last album a fair bit but it's crazy how inconsistent he's been since Positive Songs.

I liked the direction musically of the last album and admit it was his best since Positive Songs, but never found myself going back to it ever.

Just such a shame how his music dropped off so hard

The video is inexplicably bad too? It looks like he filmed it himself during a lockdown.

im not trying to knock him for the sake of it, i truly do enjoy him as an artist, but i think frank thinks he is vastly more clever and funny than he really is lol that video being sufficient evidence

  15. I enjoyed the song, even if the meaning behind it is a bit dumb I do really enjoy his wordplay. I wish his critiques had been a bit more specific though, I think there's a lot to call out in the modern music industry and this just stays too vague. Video is awful though.

    On streaming now. Still terrible.

Haven’t had an artist I adored so much fall off this hard

Yeah, unfortunately I agree with the overall sentiment. Haven't loved any of his stuff since Positive Songs for Negative People.

Everything post POSITIVE SONGS is very hit and miss unfortunately. No idea what happened. I think his output has suffered from how much material he puts out. He's a guy who seems very eager to get every song he writes out into the world but Frank could have benefited from some quality control over these last few years.

eh idk, he put out 5 albums in 6 years from 2007-2013 and the vast vast majority of those songs are incredible and unquestionably his better era.

i just kinda think hes said what hes wanted to say, and is now simply making music for the sake of it, and its showing badly when he doesnt really have anything in the tank he wants to actually write/talk about.

I still maintain FTHC was a proper really good album. I reject the notion he has nothing left in the tank when it comes to songwriting, I think it's more his execution of what he does write about is lacking if he doesn't have the necessary guidance.

Unpopular opinion but there were 4-5 good songs there. Should have been an EP.
