Yeah but in Drag Me To Hell she went through a ton of shit! haha

I watched Drag Me To Hell right around the same time I watched Signal. Now Signal is on the "to watch" list. Added Horns to the list too.

Oh definitely, I think fake out endings work best that way, because they deserve the win then at the last second it's taken away.

You guys. Scream. When Ghostface says, "can you handle that?...blondie" and the music comes cranking in as Drew Barrymore frantically locks the doors and then...silence.

I love this god damn movie.

TCM2 absolutely does not "suck", cmon people! It's not even one of those bad-good films, it's a great horror comedy. Tobe Hooper is a genius. The atmosphere he creates through set design and lighting is pretty much unmatched by other horror directors. The detail put into the underground lair is spectacular. It's a fun house film that hits every mark it sets out to hit.

That's all just scratching the surface, without getting into any of the political themes layered throughout the film.

What's the consensus on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie with Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger? I just remember when I was a youngin' seeing it on HBO and one of the rare chances of witnessing a topless woman.

Speaking of Tobe Hooper, I watched The Funhouse the other day. Not great but I didn't hate it either

Been slacking this year. Only watched a bit of Child's Play 2(on AMC), Sinister, TCM(original), and The Descent.

It's interesting when reading up on the critical reaction/legacy of TCM. So many themes I didn't pick up on when I originally watched it at 15 for obvious reasons. It really does have a disturbing statement about post-Vietnam America being a scary/diminished wasteland. The whole thing about the director swearing off meat, and his initial feeling of the movie being about meat is interesting too.

The Descent: I remember the movie ending with the main girl having a dream sequence about seeing her daughter, and then switches back to the creatures closing in on her in the cave. Then cuts to black. The ending I saw on my on demand version was Juno being alive to kill her in the car[\spoiler] I'm wondering which version is the directors cut.

I suppose you would say the first ending you saw was the director's cut. But really the difference is the the U.K. version vs the US version. The first ending was the original ending showed in the U.K. Marketers deemed it too bleak for American audiences and used the second ending here.

I agree. It had a slow start for me, almost to the point where I completely lost interest. But once things ramped up, it turned it a very entertaining film.

her crawling in the cave is the original ending. it was recut because it was too downer of an ending for American audiences. it's so much better of an ending though, ties together the metaphor for grief perfectly

I like how the Exorcist show has us see the process of her getting possessed. Like most exorcism movie I see has someone already possessed or shows it from the pov of the family, and it's interesting seeing how it's luring her then like trapping her in it and we see her struggle.

28 Days Later was real solid. far better than basically all of the zombie craze it spawned. i didn't love its gender politics, though, or the ending... watching the alt endings now

Guys what's our policy on spoilers here? I'm going to put some stuff in spoilers below even though 28 Days Later is pretty well known and came out almost 15 years ago :)

can you expand a bit more on these? There are some very fucking awful uncomfortable scenes with the soldiers, but Selena is a pretty strong character...even if her and Jim end up playing house
