  3. Boardinghouse is an SOV movie!? I had no idea when I ordered it!

  4. Black Xmas 2006 was nowhere near as good as the original hahaha

  5. Boardinghouse was... about as insane as you'd expect, although it spins its wheels a little. Rewatching CHUD now.

  7. Some notes: I created two versions of the list, one that only used weighted points and another that took into account how many lists a film appeared on. This is the second list, and I chose it because I feel it more accurately reflects the thread. (The films were identical, just a slight difference in order). Talk to Me wiped the competition on both lists with 100 points across 13 lists.

I'm sad that Skinamarink didn't make the cut and it hurt to put Renfield above Beau is Afraid lol. All in all, a great list though, and a fun year for horror imo. Proud to say I've seen all these films, but putting this list together definitely made me want to revisit a few of them.

I also just want to say thank you to this thread for being the best on the site. I've been going through it lately, but I adore the community in here specifically and the way everyone promotes what they love without tearing each other down - even when we disagree on a director. Y'all are the best, and I hope you're enjoying the holidays:heart:

  8. The idea of going back in time 10 years and telling myself two of 2023's most beloved horror films would be Saw X and Scream VI is very funny to me

  10. I do think two of my picks--Sanctuary and The Royal Hotel--are a little less horror-y and were therefore less likely to get votes in, but I stand by it: if you're a regular in here chances are you'll enjoy them.

    Unless you're this guy.

Sanctuary would have been on my list if I considered it horror. I loved that film.

The Saltburn thread at least doesn’t have somebody saying America deserved 9/11 in a review for Jim Carrey’s Grinch movie

Hahah nah it’s all good. I actually like it way more now than I did upon its release. I don’t even know why I like it.. it’s probably just the 2007 of if all.

  24. Don't feel attacked! I know a lot of people love that movie and while it's hard for me to grasp based on how much I dislike that film, I totally understand that I am in the minority!

most of the film threads on this site are unbearable because of a few particular types who hang out in them. it's a real bummer but the holier-than-thou snobbery in those threads is suffocating, it's why I only post here lol

genuinely curious what the deal is with The Mist though, I haven't seen it in 15 years but I remember it being okay
