I think I would have been able to more easily switch rooting interests earlier on in my football-fandom. I started paying attention to football a bit in 2013 and 2014 because I started playing fantasy football with friends. Of course, I cared about the Eagles’ success, but also found myself rooting for other teams for fantasy purposes like the Saints (Jimmy Graham) and Packers (Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson). It was fairly easy to keep the Eagles at arms-length during the Chip Kelly era with all the drama surrounding him and the team.

I started caring about football in general, beyond just fantasy football, during the Doug Pederson era so I became more attached to the Eagles and less attached to the Packers and other teams. I started listening to Eagles podcasts and grew even more attached to the team. I would say the closest I came to being arms-length from the team again was 2020/2021 because the team was falling apart and retooling, but, even then, I was invested in what direction they’d go in.

I think that, with how much Eagles content I consume now, it would be more difficult to step away from them and root for another team instead unless it was a situation like trading for Deshaun Watson (which they were reportedly interested in him, never forget).

 

Oh yeah I don't know if I could switch fandoms, maybe to the Lions lol

I’m a bandwagon Seahawks fan in the sense that I stopped rooting for them while they were good. How they are now as the scrappy 8-10 win team is my sweet spot & the old Kingdome uniforms make it so much easier.

I just went to Jax and it was fun you just gotta know where to go

it is a solid place to relax and enjoy shit by yourself with limited crowds

the rooftop penthouse bar at Casa Marina and the goddamn delicious tacos & table-made guac at Flying Iguana are big recommendations if you are near the beach

 

Also, Kona Skatepark is one of the best skateparks in the country, Jax Zoo is one of the best zoos in the country, @CarpetElf can confirm Chamblin's Bookmine is one of his favorite book stores, and the Arboretum is doing a Christmas lights thing so you can nature walk at night with the lights

it has attractions, they’re just spread out / very little of the cool stuff is actually downtown. Easy to go to Jax, only see the airport and downtown, and think "this city has fucking nothing" lol but that's not even where people go for nightlife, they go to Riverside / beaches for that

 

There's also an extremely cool non-alcoholic bar called Secret Tiki Bar, if you don't drink. & the rooftop of River & Post gives you a great 12th floor view of the whole center city.





last but not least, while domes are almost always the coolest stadiums, EverBank field is easily one of the better outdoor ones. The experience of eating great seafood / steak and parking for free at Chart House, and then taking a water taxi across the river from Chart House to a well designed stadium with huge super screens, and it not even being cold outside when you’re watching late season games etc, is always dope even though the stadium has nothing cool around it. Jax's best large-ish music venue, Daily's Place Amphitheatre, is attached to the stadium (and if you're into wrestling thats where they host AEW events too)

 

Livin’ that alcohol-free tailgate life since I’m on the clock. At least the food is decent.

well you've LITERALLY never been to ANY of the other places, so.

 

Kona skatepark being one of the best is just a fact. Pro skaters will tell you that. It's been around since 1977, is in Tony Hawk 4, etc. Look it up, it's sick. It's like the Skatopia of the south. I have friends who have met and skated with Bucky Lasek there lol

 

Also come on, name one outdoor stadium you've been to that's better than Jax's lol

I can't and I've been to several more than you have. Only one I would think is definitely better is Acrisure in Pittsburgh, and I guess if you count Hard Rock in Miami and don't consider it a dome then that one too (but it's almost entirely covered)
