I am looking forward to the next Album, he said in the last story it'll be out next year, which is obvious, but be cool to have it a bit earlier in 2024. They do tend to do summer releases

AJ! Cast it into the fire! Destroy it!

Catholic Girls is a top tier TDS song to me, like a contender for my favorite ever, but I feel like it's the only song I return to on that record. I need to revisit it soon, since all of their recent stuff hasn't clicked with me.

Catholic girls is definitely one of their best. There’s a few other tracks that are worthwhile on TGR but for me drowning is probably #2.

The bridge of Sins is a highlight and a reminder that there haven’t been any bridges like it since those first three records.

I'll be near RVA for a couple of months in the new year too. I'll do my best to snatch it from his head and make all that is wrong with the world right should I see him.

I think I'm one of the only ones that Prefers Golden Record over War Paint. I prefer the variety of sounds a bit. And Sins, Catholic Girls and others I think are excellent

I can’t even imagine comparing the two records. War Paint never even stumbles.

There are some great songs on GR but War Paint is a no skip record for me

I can’t listen to Golden Record the same ever since I read that AJ was trying to channel his inner Laura Jane Grace in Against Me! for the vocal performance.

He could’ve easily just… not done that.

I'm going to be honest, I don't see the problem with that.

There’s a lot of songs on there where the instrumentation just does not call for that delivery. Miles Apart is a fantastic song dragged down because there’s no reason for him to shout the verse, chorus, and bridge.

I did hear on Miles Apart he wanted the key to be lowered but Cody wanted to keep it higher, hence maybe why he needed to belt so much to hit the notes. I don't mind the Rasp on the album

I never looked into it much, but I assumed his voice was just blown out from constant touring. If it was actually a conscious choice, damn. I'd like the record a lot more if he was more dynamic like on the previous records.

I believe AJ said in this very forum that Cody refused to tune his guitar to anything but standard so that's why his voice is blown out on the record

I mean, after there was a video of you being too drunk to remember how to tune your guitar online, I could see why he wouldn’t want to deviate from standard tuning. What an ass.

Wonder if he'd do a re-imagined version of that album now.

I had no idea how huge the boys had gotten. They are now apparently the Dallas Cowboys of rock music.

Always felt weird hearing people talk about Golden Record as I've always liked that album a lot while it seems most don't lol
