It is my hope that one day, the MLB will adapt a salary cap with teeth and stuff like this doesn’t happen anymore. Being able to drop a BILLION dollars on star players is bullshit no matter how you slice it.

 

I am all for a salary cap if it comes with a strict salary floor otherwise it just gives the 27 owners who wanna be cheap a better excuse and the Dodgers, Yankees, and Mets will still find a way around it

300 over 10 years was the reported Yankee offer. I'm comfortable with them not paying someone that's never thrown a pitch in the MLB more than they're paying Cole to be honest.

 

I think what gets lost in the whole thing is dodgers are top 3 in player dev. They rolled out 4 rookie pitchers last year + Kershaw and still won 100 games.

Not many teams could withstand homegrown talent leaving (seager , belli), injuries (lux, buehler, May, gonsolin, Urias dipshittery, and not signing people like scherzer, trae, JT.

The craziest part is other teams offered the same deals. Not like dodgers just outbid everyone.

 

But they still employ Dave Roberts as their coach, sooooo....
