    Nimrod does not have filler.

Nimrod takes so many wild swings and takes you in such a ride. Platypus, Last Ride In, Take Back and Good Riddance being on the same album is absolutely crazy

I'll definitely give you that - it's interesting. I did a recent re-listed through their discog, and I definitely didn't like Insomniac as much as I thought I did because of that. Which is weird, because I think Dookie is still my number 1. Warning was even better, and that was already my number 3.

The one two punch of haushinka and walking alone is GOAT level shit

Ive def cooled on Warning, but it’s still like an A-

It’s fully loaded, and. warning the song hell yes so good, but some of the lyrics in like deadbeat holiday and hold on seem kinda aimless

His lyrics have changed a lot. First few albums are stoner romantic, then on Nimrod he gets into idioms and a turns of phrase kick, american idiot/21st Century, whatever the fuck the trilogy is etc

new songs are a mixed bag

I like it, and generally like the lyrics, but a few lines give me trilogy vibes

I also am a weird person who thinks the trilogy is pretty good as a whole

If we're gonna start comparing the trilogy to Warning just burn the thread now

My “Quatro” playlist containing songs from the trilogy is Warning AF.

Warning is their best and it's the one I go back to most. I think it's aged the best too.

Nimrod and Warning feature some of their best songwriting. And I love the Nimrod production but Warning’s acoustic-heavy sound makes it hit less for me. It’s still beautiful and different.

But when they play those songs live with the same pedals and cabinets or whatever else they use for the rest of the set, they scorch.

I, like most sane individuals, stopped caring after AI. Actually during AI, if i’m being completely honest.

I mean, 21CBD is bloated, but there is some greatness there. RevRad has always ruled. New album is shaping up to be pretty good. Still sane here.

Green Day is my favorite band and I love Dookie but I also think that Nimrod and Warning are so much better than that album that I'm not sure why those albums aren't as universally beloved (in the grand scheme of music)

I think the cultural impact and importance of Dookie far far outshines Nimrod and Warning, in the grand scheme of things.

Agreed, I'm more saying that those albums should be considered right up there with it in terms of quality (I like them both better). Really not a fan of the narrative that they dropped the instant classic in Dookie and then were essentially irrelevant until AI

oh sure. But in that bigger context, it makes sense. Good Rideance itself was massive and probably just as impactful as Dookie. But for the bigger picture, singles like Nice Guys and Redundant have probably long faded for the general audience. I think, emphasis on “think”, a lot of people think what you said because Dookie and AI are their two biggest albums. They just sold so much and had such strong singles. Meaning their singles were EVERYWHERE and probably everyone would recognize them. I don’t think that could be said for the singles inbetween, minus Good Riddance. I think that the “lack” of success at the level of Dookie and AI just makes people think the others don’t measure up. They're wrong, of course haha! I just think there are people who view music that way.

Or I have no idea what I’m talking about. This is based on just people I’ve met over the years and how they listen to and judge music. I think people look down on music they have never heard about or are aware of. Like, if it’s not on the radio, how good could it be? That’s what I’ve seen in a lot of people.
