Probably listened to less emoish stuff than ever this year because I'm just not digging most of the 5th wave, but these stood out:

    Del Paxton
    Broken Record
    Feverchild
    Bewilder
    awakebutstillinbed
Home Is Where (didn't expect to like this at all but I actually did)

herminology, OotyPa and duffe like this.
  4. Feel you on the 5th wave meh-ness, and I loved all of these albums except Feverchild, which is just because I haven't listened.

Have you heard Calamity by Plain Speak? Imagine 2000s Death Cab but in 2023.

Feels like basically every hype hardcore band released a record this year

  10. It's still crazy to me that the LIES album came out this year. Feels like two or three years ago. I will put that one on my end of year list while I try to remember what other 2023 releases I've been into.

This year, I actually focused more on listening to a lot of older albums from the 80s and 90s than newer stuff.

It came out in October in the middle of a bunch of high profile releases, but the new ME REX album is so good:

been obsessing over Rob Crow (one of the dudes in Pinback) side projects lately.

anyone into that stuff here? really enjoying Goblin Cock's discography lol. this one in particular is siiiick. I think Weatherbox fans might enjoy this actually

also now checking out Other Men which is more technical and mathy.

they're all pretty different while it also seems if you like one, you'd like them all. amazing considering how many projects he's had over the years.

I've never actually listened to Goblin Cock because I assumed they were goofy metal but as a big Pinback and Weatherbox fan I'm gonna have to check it out.

That Elephant Gym album, though I’m not sure whether it’s intentional, definitely had some holiday feels.

Having a night and listening to Injury Tape. This record was in heavy rotation last year right before my dad passed/company sold. Lots of emotions behind it

Berlin Record Label Thirty Something Records is dropping some classics today. Represses of Far "Tin Cans With Strings to You" and The Fire Theft's self titled (3/4 of Sunny Day Real Estate)

It looks like they're up maybe 6am EST?

They've repressed/pressed some classic emo albums (lots of Deep Elm classics) the last few years from Gratitude, Far, The Appleseed Cast, Benton Falls, Pop Unknown, Sundays Best, Logh, Red Animal War etc.

Typically their releases are distributed in the US by New Granada records and Steadfast records so those are also places to check if you're into these lesser known classics.

    Maintenance

    New Granada
