only needed a win (or, really, to match whatever United did against Stoke, thus winning the title by a single point) but Chelsea just walloped Wigan

watching the highlights, Wigan got a red card a half hour in, so it makes sense that the floodgates really opened

 

Salah vice captaincy was obviously key. Sticking with Son through the last few game weeks paid off this week.

Up to 3rd again, although positions don't matter at this stage. Just nice to be consistent. I think this might be the furthest into the season I've got without forgetting to do my team once.

 

My biggest takeaway and hope from yesterday is that Richarlison is back in form after surgery. He mentioned how bad it was affecting him over the last year, so I’m hoping he’s back to the player we bought from Everton.

 

That was a wild team and year. They scored more than 5 goals six times.

So deserved. Turns out the problem WAS Chelsea all along, and they were playing him in the wrong position. Man has been electric for the last 4/5 games.

I don’t think Gallagher is a world beater or anything, but I’d really like this to finally happen. His style of play would work well for Ange.

And it’s officially official.

I know this doesn’t scream ‘exciting’ but I think it’s a great hire considering it’s MLS. Smith will be one of the best managers in the league day one. Our squad is good enough to compete, we’ve just been poorly managed the last two seasons.

One thing we’ve done well is recruit young talent. The developmental team finished top of the table year one. A few of those guys performed well in their call-ups throughout the season. Smith has a solid track record of developing young players so I think it could be a great combo between club and manager.

And lastly, Smith has ties to the area which makes me think he won’t treat this as a stepping stone to his next job.

 

Also just heard that Greek government is forcing the domestic league to be played behind closed doors until February 2024
