So I'm about to go to sleep but I was curious to all the talk about "Pass the Baby" so I figured I'd give that one a listen before I went to bed. Holy hell, that ending.

Can't wait to listen to this whole thing on my commute to work tomorrow.

Daaaaaamnnnn. I love that version. I mean, I like the album version, but it would be nice to have an alternate version too!

This record is absolutely unreal. They are simply on a whole different level than everyone else.

Every time I think they can't blow me away again, they go ahead and prove me wrong.

Yeah, I remember, ha. I have Dave on Facebook, people still randomly make fun of him on Fightstar posts, haha.

i’ve been meaning to tell you

    I WASN'T PREPARED.

It's so different than anything I could've expected. They tricked me with the prerelease songs... but that's not a bad thing. "The End is Beautiful" is gonna be one of my new favorites for sure.

wow. really just wow. left for work at 5:30, dark quiet roads the whole way. Por Roger gave me chills and my eyes watered haha. can't wait to delve into the lyrics, from what I picked up this album is really going to resonate.

Shoot, I love those songs. Can't imagine any of those not being on the record. I can imagine a version with "Shame," but I don't think "Sparkle" or "When I Want" are up to par with the songs on the actual album.

...are there even synths on that record?

This record was made for dark drives.

Really happy with this so far, probably my third favorite JEW record. Only time will tell if it stays there (it won't top Invented or Futures). Being so midtempo, melancholic and polished, it should be a fitting album to listen to under an urban night sky in the fall/winter. "Pol Roger" is a masterpiece...

Just didn't find "Pass The Baby" to be as stunning as it has been said. I love the first section, it's just the guitar loop I was not into. Wish the synth went on until the end. It has grown on me since the first listen, though (It helps that the transition to "Get Right" is seamless). Right now, my main complaint with that one is how the the lyrics of that song feel out of element in the context of the record.

Overall, I also think some of the lyricism would have benefited with a little more elaboration (like the chorus of "You Are Free)". There are moments of brilliance sprinkled here and there, Jim is capable of incredibly touching and evoking imagery at his best, but here he is not as consistent as he was sometimes before.

Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

synths very prominent in the bridge of (i think) no never.

I'm convinced that Jim just wants to make us cry in public places so badly. He wouldn't write songs like "The End Is Beautiful" if that wasn't the case.

Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

There's something off about Through for me. The chorus just isn't long enough. It's like they didn't realise that the chorus of that song is its real strength and they didn't capitalise on it enough. Let me keep enjoying the chorus rather than taking it away from me too quickly each time.

Hope this is a grower for me, some interesting things going on but definitely not the first listen I had expected

Lots of people have said they wish the chorus for Through went on for longer. Even just 4 posts above mine!

Yeah, I would actually agree about wishing the chorus to Through repeated itself again at the end. I had the same issue with both Sure and Certain and Get Right but eventually warmed up to their abruptness, but Through is just so catchy and the song so compact that I think it would've benefited from one last huge repeat of the chorus for the finale.

Regardless, it's still one of my top 3 on the record.

I actually was a about to post the same thing, but didn't want to seem redundant. That being said I still enjoy the song and I'm sure once I have better knowledge of the whole thing it will make more sense to me.
