and honestly let's be real. No one treats bikes like vehicles. If they did they wouldn't try to pass them while they're riding in the same lane, they'd just slow down and stay behind. So the argument isnt even consistent.

I'm speaking for the majority of city drivers

A person who drives mostly in the suburbs of a smaller city doesn't even have the same context that I have as a cyclist in urban Baltimore & DC. I would definitely apply that context and ride my bike much differently in your area than i do in my area.

I’m not reading the last 9 pages but I see we’re still on about cyclist.

I have a suggestion and it’s quite simple. Ride on the fucking sidewalk. No cop is gonna chase you down and give you a ticket.

This is actually what i do most of the time. Most of this argument centers around times when the sidewalk isn't a good option (like if there's curbs every 200 feet, or if there's a lot of pedestrians on a skinny sidewalk) AND there isn't a bike lane.

This argument doesn’t help either because at least in Colorado, you can pass from the left as long as the dividing line isn’t solid yellow. If it’s dotted yellow you can pass

You can simply avoid traffic laws by using a private jet to get to where you need to go like Taylor

Randall….people pass slow cars all of the time. What are you even talking about lol

Are you telling me you’d ride behind a car going 20 miles lower than the speed limit just because you’re both driving cars?

Get a bike that can take on curbs. Run over the people walking.

seriously Randall, do you have to make everything difficult?

in a narrow city street where there is not much room to pass, yes, there's literally not another option.

I get that bikes are skinny but that doesnt make it any less scary when there are literally 8 inches between me and parked cars on one side and cars passing me on the other side

Honestly my biggest problem is that most drivers who have all these opinions about cyclists and use the whole "YOU'RE BREAKING THE LAW" to ignore all the context of the discussion,

have literally little to zero experience actually riding a bike in a city so they don't even know what it's like, or why cyclists opinions of the road are different. They treat the entire discussion like the cyclist is another driver of another car and that's what gets my goat. Nuance is important and can often debunk whatever the legal argument is.

Then by your logic for running red lights on a bike, it is perfectly fine if there is no on coming traffic in the opposite lane to pass some driving/riding slower than you. If people are passing while there is on coming traffic and not giving a biker room while they pass, then that’s on them.

Your whole argument right now is that you want bikes to be treated equally on the road but then you want your own rules.
