    Lets Go. Prestigious

my take on bikes/motorcycles are I am fine with them in general and typically respect them, but the guys that like to weave in and out of stopped traffic between cars are assholes and deserve everything they get

Bikers who don’t follow basic traffic laws like stop lights, stop signs, using the actual lane, etc are the worst and make a bad name for the others who are just trying to get around safely.

    benjamin please Prestigious

Randall is correct. Although Athens turned one of the main roads from two lanes to one lane to expand a bike lane and add these safety spike things so now traffic is MUCH worse, turns are basically 90° now, and still nobody is biking on this road.

@whitenblue88 idk when the last time you came back here was but Prince Ave is now one lane lol

Some bikers are good at using roads. Some bikers are bad at using roads.

I will admit that, *if there’s no cross traffic coming* I will ride thru a red light just because it’s an opportunity to have the road to myself for a couple blocks and not worry about cars as much. This wouldn’t be a thing when we’re talking about busy boulevards crossing each other, more so 25mph, one lane city streets.

But I always, always, always stop and look both ways and make sure no one is coming before I do so, just like I would if I was a pedestrian. No excuse for a bike to plow through an intersection without looking, if they get hit that way that’s on them

If you can make it so my 97 Chevy blazer didn’t cause me a bunch of tickets when I got my license cause my “muffler was too loud” but motorcycles can be as loud as freakin’ fireworks and every cop applauds them … then I’ll listen

Yeah let’s not demonize the people who are reducing traffic and emissions / pollution overall? More of us should do it sometimes and normalize it like Europe does, instead of treating it like a niche hobby for hipster assholes lol

for some of us, it’s not even a hobby, it’s a financial necessity. I didn’t have a car for 4 years.

drivers bikers and pedestrians all kind of suck towards each other. the last couple pages are evidence that who is worst just depends on who you ask lol

Is there anyone here demonizing biking though? lol. I think there’s gonna be frustrations always between bikers/drivers until urban cities infrastructures make it feasible for biking accessibility. I think (personally)some bikers get a bad wrap because they use the road but then only follow driving laws when they feel like it. Then you’ll always have drivers who are assholes to bikers.

Sure, if we’re building cities from scratch why not. But taking away full lanes of traffic when congestion is already bad so someone can bike past me, call me an asshole, and then run a red light nearly causing a 3 car pileup isn’t a solution lol

It drives me nuts. Don’t want me to think you and your hobby are a nuisance? Practice what you preach and actually stop at a red light and stay in a lane. I don’t even care which one.

It’s like motorcyclist with their look twice save a life campaign. Maybe work on your own camp on a “maybe we don’t need to be such assholes on the highway” campaign lol

    Nope. Supporter

The real problem is our infrastructure for urban biking in this country is god damn awful. Non-existent bike lanes or bike lanes that also have to share the “lane” with parked cars. IMO there should probably be a barrier between the cars and bike lane too.

Most motorcyclists can get fucked though
