There's so much I like about this - Just wish I liked the vocals a little more

 

In every moment the light shines twice as bright
Though cold envelops the fading life inside
I vie for closure of the mind thats evaded my eyes
I see the smoke filling the sky spelling out "at least you tried"
The wonder and mystery dissolve in the nascent routine
I cling to the feeling but my grip is slowly slipping

 

I implore anyone who had trouble with her vocals to try again! The album is worth it.

 

I agree. I was pretty turned off when I first heard Opener on their debut. I tried to listen to their debut a few times and just couldn’t make it through because of her voice. I don’t know what changed but I was hooked when I listened to their split with For Your Health and listened to it a lot. After listening to and loving Chaos Takes the Wheel… I went back and now I love their debut. She is just such a good songwriter and I really love her voice and scream now.

Fucking masterpiece of an album, this.

 

This keeps moving up my list as I revisit top albums from this year. This album has so much 90s emo in it. What a record

 

I still can’t believe this album isn’t bigger around here.

 

i got my record the other day i love this album. streamline i think is my favorite song now that the dust has settled

 

Seeing them now with some band called Your Arms Are My Cocoon who I have never listened to before. There’s a lot of people here for it being a Sunday. Apparently Your Arms Are My Cocoon are really popular, seems like a lot of people are here for them. I’ve only ever heard there name a couple times in passing.

 

I like their sound but the vocals don't do it for me.

 

They only have one six song EP from 2020 and it’s really short. But they tour a lot and have a good fanbase from that. I wish they’d release more!

The kind of endearingly grating vocals bring to mind Cosmic Thrill Seekers era Prince Daddy & The Hyena. I wonder if there's a chance that she cleans them up a little and gets wider acclaim similar to what happened on their follow up.

 

I love her vocals. To each their own.

 

Her vocals are great to me but I understand the reference. With Prince Daddy’s LP1 I remember it was an either you love it or hate it situation.

 

I’m sitting outside in front a fire listening to this album and it’s absolutely perfect. Truly a classic of the genre and I encourage anyone who has had trouble with her voice to try again and hopefully it will click!

 

I’m not sure if it’s too soon to say but I think this is my favorite album of the last 5 years. It might be in my top 10 of all time. It’s a masterpiece
