I might pick it up today. There really isn't much out this week, so I can definitely afford to grab it.

How does J Scott Campbell still get work doing covers at Marvel, or anywhere besides Zenescope for that matter?

Even if you're going to somehow accept overly sexualized garbage in comics, how is 15-yr-old Riri Williams one of the characters you'll let J Scott draw?

    Dang it, comics.

    That is super disappointing.

It seems like for every step forward the industry makes, there is always something like this that reminds me of how much farther we still have to go.

Which reminds me, one of the aspects of Rebirth I found disappointing was how quickly some books jumped into the whole "kidnap / kill a woman to motivate the hero" trope.

Specifically, Flash with his new g/f who is introduced and killed in a matter of 3 issues and in Green Arrow where Black Canary is used as bait for Green Arrow.

And then in Green Lanterns using the female Lantern as the hyper anxious character curling up in the fetal position while her male counterpart constantly belittles her struck me as just bad optics. I see the kind of story / character Humphries was going for, but I think the execution was pretty poor.

I like that DC Rebirth goes back to the basics, but some of those "basics" were best left in the past.

Yeah Wally is definitely the main reason I checked it out. The villain in the first arc was a little eh but Wally's storyline was pretty good.

Yeah Wally's story is the main hook for me for Titans.

I think Green Lanterns has done a good job of taking what was previously established for these characters and going from there, but there have been moments where their dynamic felt weird mostly for the reason you described here. I do have confidence in where Humphries is gonna take these characters, though. Hopefully Jessica is progressed past the extreme anxiety while the character is still new, before it becomes a staple of the character.

I hope the end of Astonishing Ant-Man is hinting at a NOW! relaunch as Ant-Man and Stinger. I need Spencer to keep writing the Ant-Man Security Solutions team.

Speaking of Green Lanterns, just read it. The art continues to be frustrating, and the writing continues to be mostly engaging. This character they're setting up seems like he could be a cool foil for Simon and Jessica. Though, I did find it...interesting that his backstory included a power ring saying he was worthy, then saying it malfunctioned and going elsewhere. Do rings malfunction like that?

Justice League was alright, but my initial defenses of the series as better than people gave it credit for have diminished. I'm still curious as to what's to come, but I don't think the curiosity is enough to justify $6 a month. My shop still has all of Superman in stock, so I might drop this for that and catch up, since I've been regretting choosing to tradewait it.

Picked up Infamous Iron Man #1 and generally enjoyed it, though I do think it'll read better in trade, which I'm fine with. I'd love to see Thing have a constant presence, instead of a brief one, and I'm also intrigued by what's to come with that final page. Hopefully later issues better flesh out his decision to don the Iron Man mantle. Can't wait for people to complain that this spoiled the delayed CW2 ending, much like some titles with Secret Wars, even though that event's ending was no less impactful with the awkward release schedule. There's still enough uncertainty to keep me intrigued in this current event.

Mighty Thor is wonderful. I really liked this issue's explanation of Mjolnir's origins. Lots of big fantasy goodness. Next couple issues will have Epting filling in for Dauterman, which should be cool. I like that this series has fill in artists (so Dauterman has time to do his thing) without ever having visually weak issues or awkward shifts within arcs.

Jean Grey is getting a solo book for that event as well.

Hm. Weird that a bunch of solo X-books are launching. I want more teams for exposure to even more mutants, not even more of the mutants we already get enough of.

They might also be making significant shake-ups to the X-teams in ResurrXion. Jean Grey seems like a pretty weird choice for a solo book, but I'm still curious as to what the full X line will look like come spring.

YOOOOO NEW GENERATION X! Now that's what I'm talking about. Poster exclusively features all of the younger teams from over the years, from New Mutants all the way up to Hope's team. Easily the most exciting RessurXtion book so far.

This is a bit random, but does anyone here have any clue on how to contact comic writers/artists? Would love to get a couple on Welcome To Geekdom, but it's a long shot haha.

Update: Have an email for Brett Booth now to have him on to talk Titans. This is a good start!

  19. I know some comics still do the letters page at the end of issues, usually including both a physical address and an email. Getting in touch with them through that email might be a good start!

Have you tried contacting the marketing department or anything of the publishers or the publisher themselves?

Also add Scott Snyder, Dustin Nguyen, Joshua Williamson, Tim Seeley, John Layman, and Joe Hill to the "Haha yeah right, OMG" list of people I'd like to hear on a podcast.

Tyler James would be cool too but I'm probably the only one in here who knows who that is lol

DC is forever difficult to get consistent replies from. Marvel seems to not want you to know who to actually talk to. I get Marvel emails from 2 people and I'd say 95% of the time they don't reply back haha.

Know all of those but Tyler James and John Layman. Snyder is definitely on the list plus Capullo. Will add the others.

So far I've found emails for Brian Michael Bendis and Kate Leth and then Brett Booth gave me his via Twitter.
