I didn't realize I did because all my friends were poor poor and we lived in a really big house*

*that was 30+ minutes outside of town and dilapidated lol

At one point I slept on the floor of an old shitty house in south OKC and my sister’s “room” was just a section of the living room that had blankets hung up to make “walls” and my dad made meth in a shed type building in the backyard

 

Im gonna say the rest of the story -

Matt’s family technically squatted in this house and were like a month away from de-facto owning it when the bank found out

 

I actually love (or at least used to love) Ocean City MD. BUT yes the first 25-35 streets or so are SUPER crowded and yeah it's a nighmare. YOu gotta drive all the way down past 1st street to get to the parking lot for the boardwalk and it is a CHORE.

But beachwise, the few years we did a big family vaca there as a child, we usually stayed north of 70th street and it was a good beach, not super overly crowded, etc.

And there is a TON of stuff to do in town and on the boardwalk. And tons of restaurants too, ones that sound way more like Randall's description of kitschy lol. The traffic just succcccks. The busses at least are frequentish enough that you can get around without driving if you want to.

The bank that owned it folded and got bought by another bank which then merged with another bank and they lost a few thousand mortgages in that process lol. Took them years to find it lmao

Talk about being opportunistic lmao. How did your dad figure out “hey kids, wanna live in a big house for basically free”?

Like, were they paying on that defunct mortgage, and then the mortgage got lost and they didn’t owe anymore, or had that already happened before you moved in and your dad the real estate agent jumped on an opportunity?

Oh also I ever responded to Randall's Wilmington slander:

It's a fine small little city, def not a major one. It has cute little events that can't quite measure up to big cities, and it has an area that all the young professionals live within walking distance of a collection of bars and restaurants, and it has a downtown that it has been trying to liven up for years but it's been tough, especially with covid and the shift to work from home. But htere are lots of restaurants on Market Street now.
