I need to find more vegetarian/plant based fitness ppl to follow. I love recipe inspiration and some meat recipes are easy to sub but I always love easy and new plant based recipes

First week down and I'm loving it. I went a little too heavy for the program's parameters and learned my lesson haha, but overall I think this approach is going to work really well.

This week (Elf) was a lighter-weight, higher-rep, get-back-into-the-groove idea. Lots of quick compound movements and complexes, some agility work, some heavy carries, ~9 miles of running (more than I've run in a week in a long time), and some pretty brutal conditioning from Crossfit WODs and Dan John. Feeling quick and strong. Lots of tricep and quad isolation stuff too.

This coming week (Dwarf) is heavier. Looking to bump up the mileage, increase the weight for front squats, BTN presses, and close-grip bench, row more, and do a little better at load and recovery management. Also eat less and drink more water, haha.

I'm trying to make it a point to get 10k steps every day again. Just cause I can be so sedentary at work and on days I walk more throughout the day but don't go to the gym, I often burn more calories than when I do go to the gym but am more sedentary throughout the day. Just trying to keep moving. I've been looking at walking pads so I can walk when I watch TV at home and for when the weather gets worse so walking outside gets harder, but I'm worried about it being too loud. I live on the top floor of my apartment so I have no idea how noise travels below. Trying to do small things to benefit my health. I'm on day 2 of 10k+ steps but the real test is def the work week

I did a 5k on Thursday and idk how people do long distance running cause that was enough for me. But I was proud cause yesterday I didn't feel like excercising but I ended up going on a 3.5 mile walk and really hit a good stride and felt great after. I'm back to tracking my calories to be mindful cause my weight has been fluctuating with some med changes. I'm going on vacation next week so I wish I'd started tracking sooner cause I'm kinda self conscious of how long I'll look in photos but trying not to stress about it. Gotta give myself grace and just have fun because excercise and nutrition labels will be waiting for me when I get back lol. But sometimes it's easier said than done.

I feel the same way. I’m a slow runner, and the times I’ve been in my best shape I’ve only been a slow and consistent 5k runner. People who routinely go 5, 10, 15 miles are wild to me. I can’t physically imagine doing it.

I've always been an endurance runner opposed to someone that runs fast. I blame running cross country in grade school. Whenever I run on cardio days I don't run distance, I run time. So I'll try to run an hour at a constant pace rather than trying to get a certain distance. So some days I will run a significant lower distance than the previous, but my breathing and pacing will be what I aim to control.

  10. I think the longest I’ve ever ran on pavement or treadmill is 5 miles

I had no running experience until I was an adult doing the couch to 5k app for the first time. It’s been so hard to get in a rhythm as an adult, I really hate I didn’t have a foundation like that during school.

I ran all four years (winter and spring) in HS, and have done half marathons and triathlons. Had great times too. Now I just stick to biking. Do 6-10 miles regularly, and throw in some 40 mile rides every month.

Finally motivated to do cardio again, I pulled a groin playing kickball this summer and couldn't run for months. I do a 15 incline and am working up to doing at least a 5k two or three times a week.

Started on the 15th with 30 minutes and 2.04 miles, yesterday did 35 minutes and 2.51 miles. First two times I was winded after but I could've done more yesterday

November 4th/5th I completed my second 100 mile trial ultramarathon. Same race - 2 years apart. PR'd by 2 hours(27h:19m this year). Had more in me for maybe sub 26 hours, but a knee pain caused me to walk a lot of the last 13 miles. I didn't do anything the next week. Got some short trots and a good hike in on the 2nd week after. On Thanksgiving I raced for fun a 10k and felt pretty good. This week I'm ready to grow mileage back up a bit higher. My speed has suffered some for focusing more on long, slow efforts with more vert for aerobic adaption and strength. I plan on putting some time into some speed work this December to help with that on top of my trail exploration runs. Oh, and maybe actually lift some weights. (thought about hitting a Crossfit or F45 style class for some structure since IDK what I'm doing)

Basically I love long trail stuff so I can be moderately quick over a long duration vs blowing a gasket for a shorter amount of time.

I did 12 miles yesterday. It’s not fast. But getting into endurance running has dramatically improved my mental and physical health.

A long, slow, consistent build over years. A strong will and love to do it. A metric ton of slow, not exciting running mostly on trails. Eating a ton. Decent sleep. Eat mostly "good" things. (anecdotally on a Vegan diet). Knowing when to back off. (luck and genetics?)

I used to hate running long distances, but my cross country coach in high school taught me to allow yourself to breath slower. If you take slower and deeper breaths it allows more air to come in and you expel less energy.

Took me a while to get used to it, but I’ve been doing that ever since.

Yeah I don't "run" very often I'm more of a jogger. But even then I've never been able to run/jog without stopping to walk some of it. I feel like I have to work really hard to have what fitbit states is average cardio health. And it legit took years for me to get from poor to average. Even the 5k I did some walking breaks and it felt like someone was squeezing my heart and it was hard from that cardio standpoint. I did it in 33 minutes which idk if that's average or not but it was hard. I may try and work my way up to a 10k someday but that feels impossible rn.

Basically I'm the opposite of this Kendall Jenner meme

Doesn't stop me from trying hard and working out regularly but some of us are just built different and I just hope I never have to try to outrun a serial killer or something cause I'll be a goner

Recently started going to the gym with some friends... Learned a lesson last night to not snack on Ghost Pepper beef jerky before working out because I had the worst case of heart burn I've ever had.
