their defense has only allowed 80 points total (at least that’s how I remember the stat, i didn’t add them and double check) in the like 6 games since they allowed 70 to Miami.

they are making a legit turnaround and could easily steal the 7 seed from the Browns

Sean Payton, we may not like the guy, but he might be proving this year he always was a good coach.

Eh...I'd call him Jeff Fisher+ with great QBs. And hilariously, a sense of when to bail. If he was coaching the Saints right now (or rather, had not retired), we'd be talking about how he's about to get fired from that job and if it tarnishes him as even a good coach.

He had the lull years like Tomlin/Ben did when the cap was bad in PIT, but Payton had, what 3 straight years under .500? And got suspended for a full year (where they went 7-9, so 4 of 5 years straight they were <.500)? Like, all the credit we give a Belichick or Tomlin for keeping their team in line despite some chaotic personalities in retrospect (see: Antonio Brown or Aaron Hernandez)...Sean Payton was the distraction for multiple seasons.

Beating the Chiefs and Bills is a nice sign...but they have 3 straight rough road games ahead, and still need to finish at like 10-7 to be a playoff team. And they're still a uniquely abysmal Bears team giving up a 28-7 lead and a backup Vikings QB away from being 4-7 and really no better off than last year with maybe the worst HC the NFL has seen this century.

 

Like, Sean Paytons inability to deliver the consistent playoff caliber of Belichick led the Saints to doom themselves...Payton bailed...and then Denver hand SEA and NO a Ricky Williams level haul to get a QB and HC who are a Jordan Love INT and an even loosely competent Bears team away from being eliminated from the playoffs already.

And that Jordan Love INT was from the backup safety who was only playing because the biggest shithead in the league is their starting safety and he was ejected for the 2nd time this year. None of that sounds like good coaching...just pure lucky and even shittier coaching opposite them.
