We are doing both. but yes.

I was just saying the order I would have released the songs, instead of the way they did it.

after hearing the album i think "Sure and Certain" was the best choice for a leading single

"You Are Free" and "The End is Beautiful" work so well together in the middle of the album. Those songs have some of Jim's best verse writing.

Yeah but through after that instead of you are free or you with me would've been better

"Sure and Certain" was definitely the right leadoff. I'm surprised they released "Get Right" instead of "Through," though.

i didnt listen to You Are Free before i had the album in full, but ill admit i did feel slightly underwhelmed with it just because of how much talk there was on it (still a great song however). Through would be a great single, i agree.

  9. Last night I quietly listened to this while the girl was asleep. Feels good to blast it today on such a nice day. Man, I freaking love this band.

Maybe they did get right just so they could play it live because it was a great set opener

Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

they released Get Right because their UK label encouraged them that the UK is more receptive to rockier singles. otherwise it wouldn't have been a single.

Through would've worked for that imo

You know, that probably is why they did that. I'd imagine that one is fantastic live.

  20. Interesting! And if hadn't been a single, left as an album track, it'd probably be making its live debut AFTER Integrity Blues was released, because IIRC, none of the singles from IB were played live before being premiered.

This is my top played artists all time since 2005 on last.fm. Again, clearly my favorite band ever.

I don't even think that number does them justice for me. I listen to them in the car, recently on vinyl, etc more than anything.

But this weekend that number is gonna get even higher. Now I just need to see them live again, it's been too long!

I like how Kanye always seems to find his way into the mix of things.

  24. Something I've never found out the answer to: does the band consider the 1994 self-titled as JEW canon and therefore their debut. or does that honour go to Static Prevails? The completist in me would love to own the 1994 S/T (as opposed to the pre-Clarity 1998 EP) on vinyl, but if they consider their discog to look thusly:
    • Static Prevails
    • Clarity
    • Bleed American
    • Futures
    • Chase This Light
    • Invented
    • Damage
    • Integrity Blues
then odds are that this would never happen, right? While I think it's easily my least favourite of their records (the band weren't even around a year before releasing it), I find plenty to enjoy in it and would love the chance to have it on wax.

I've always considered Static Prevails as their first official studio album. I guess it's kinda similar to Manchester Orchestra's Nobody Sings Anymore. It's an album, but it's not their first official album
