basically the entire league plays tomorrow, off Thursday, plays Friday

 

i don’t really like the 4 games in 5 nights excuse. the league could have scheduled better throughout the weekend to allow for there to be room to play a couple of those wednesday games on tuesday. the only real excuse should be for the teams that were in sweden.

 

I also don't get their logic with that "event" a month ago where every team played on the same day.

Yay, that means I can still watch the same number of games as usual, given the limits of human eyeballs. And if they're trying to gain new fans, they'll really keep the momentum going for them by having... one game the next day.

Statistically speaking it's the wild card spots that are still "in play"

Washington is second in the metro, I would not be shocked if they were replaced by devils or pens. However, the devils (who I said would win the east) are the fourth worst in the east by points percentage. Will Meier and hischier returning propel them? Maybe if they play goal...

Tampa is third in their division with Johansen in net and he is not particularly good. Basically this is all on the strength of kucherov. It's impressive. Can they push Boston when vasy returns? Probably not lol

The oilers gave up four in the first last night on their way to losing, drai was the third worst skater in the game. They sit third from the bottom in the west. I predicted them to win the cup because: see what I just said about tbl and look at vgk last year. them failing despite having two of the five best skaters on earth shows the importance of systems and coaching at this level. Can't just bring your boys from junior and expect wins.

West wild card could be fun as the ducks and yotes are three points out. Doesn't sound like much but that's actually a big gap but not impossible. Again one out of four to five spots is still in play so 3 or 4 teams not currently in may be in.

That said - vgk, dal, bos, and dare I say nyr are playing so well I don't see how they're not the final four. Col is the only western team that could challenge but they've been absolutely handled by dal and vgk losing both matches by a combined score of 13-3. LA is also a sleeper cup pick, by points percentage they're second in the west. They also have the most dominant underlying stats in the league.
