I was lucky enough to get my pre-order this afternoon, so thankfully I should now be more productive at work tomorrow. Just wanted to share some quick thoughts before it's officially released. I've listened to it a couple times now and I'm really enjoying it. There's definitely some experimentation and different things they haven't done before but most of it comes out well to me. Should be something for any fan of the band on this. Initial favorites are: It Matters, Through, and Pol Roger.

@dvls2012 i assume that PTB is the experimentation that didn't work for you?

Yeah, the first listen was a little rough but I it came off better the second time through, might be a grower. I do like the back half though, a little post-rockish.

i’ve been meaning to tell you

Oh shoot. Honestly, "Get Right" was awesome, probably my favorite of the new songs to hear live. "Kill" was a terrific surprise, that was probably my favorite overall.

Also, they were giving away the 7" with the preorder again. I asked if we could buy them, they said no. The record stores are given a certain amount and then have to return them after the presale period. So hopefully JEW will sell them later?

Hard shift from the end of "It Matters" to "Pretty Grids" but I dig it.

"Pass the Baby" is kind of like an evolution of "Gotta Be Somebody's Blues" so far.

    edit: ...well okay then
