I'm going to laugh when Alabama beats Georgia in the sec title game and fsu/wash win out...hell let's throw Ohio state laying an egg in the big10 title game too just for kicks (this one has 0.00% chance of happening but hey)

 

I’ll preface this by saying I’m a huge fan/belief of the phrase, “prove you’re the better team by beating a team” but it’s fascinating looking at Washington and Oregon. Oregon seemingly looks better than Washington in all games against the same opponents but lost to Washington.

So far Oregon and Washington have played 5 of the same teams and while both teams are 5-0, Oregon has won those 5 games by 154 points while Washington won those 5 games by only 61 points. And that margin could jump even more if Oregon beats the Beavers since Washington only won by 2.

Obvious “duh” that each game is different and there are injuries, weather, etc. that don’t make it an apples to apples comparison and the PAC-12 title game will decide things but right now it’s like, “Washington was better than Oregon on that particular day, but looking at schedule/comparing scores Oregon looks to be the better team through the season / more consistently”.

But again that gets you nowhere and I’m sure the Jaguars from 1999 don’t feel like they’re the best team from that year when they went 15-3 but lost all 3 games to the goddamn Titans.
