Richardson, I’m gonna say they did a good job of not putting a lot on his plate and making his decisions simple. Which you can kinda get away with, with an athlete that can make big plays happen randomly. But he wasn’t healthy long enough for his flaws to catch up to him

 

and honestly, this is evidence that Bryce isn’t the guy. If we wanted him, he probably ain’t it.

 

To be fair every week there’s zingers about Trev too lol

who the gang decides to make fun of has nothing to do with talent. Has a lot more to do with if your team is popularly liked or not

 

I also pushback on absolving Reich on picking Bryce. There’s been no real reporting about that. It sounds made up. I think they all wanted him. Just like all the other teams in the league. Including Houston. Who would’ve taken Bryce if they had the first pick.

The Ickey pick looked great last year, but this year it’s been yikes

He came in the year we traded for Darnold. And then traded for Baker. And then traded for Corral. And then traded for Bryce. All while also never drafting a player that contributes to the team.

He drafted Tommy Tremble who rarely played until recently. He was suppose to replace Ian Thomas. He didn’t. Ian Thomas still sucks. But we gave him a second contract anyways. And then we signed another TE to start over him anyways.

Stuff like that.

 

We also had an offseason where Stephon Gilmore, Hassan Reddick, and Donte Jackson were all free agents. He chose to pay Donte Jackson and let the other two walk.

 

He turned down multiple firsts plus other picks for Burns…and now can’t agree to a deal with him.

He traded away our only two good offensive players and then brought in a rookie QB to play with the leftovers.

I dont want to get too involved in this discussion but I do believe theres a point where a QB should elevate those around him. I distinctly remember in the offseason I saw the sentiment that Bryce had the far better offensive players around him to succeed than Stroud did.

These are real damming stats for the Jags play calling:

Despite being 14th in yards per game (341) and 10th in points per game (24.1), we are:

-25th in third down conversion rate (35.1%)
-26th in percentage of red zone trips that become TDs (47.6%)

and of the 62 drives that have crossed midfield, only 35 of them have ended in any points (FG or TD)

when you pair that with Trevor Lawrence’s excellent third down STATS, that’s telling me that’s all Press Taylor and I am not wrong that his playcalling is making us play uglier than we should
