Alright, after a few weeks of nonstop listens, here's some categories I'd love to know everyone's opinions on..

Favorite track: Terrified

Most skipped: One More Time

Song that snuck up on me, that I repeat a lot now:
It was When We Were Young, because I think the weird time signature is so damn cool.
Now it's Other Side (verse melody is too damn catchy)

Other notes:
The only thing that really bugs me on the album is that they use the line "When we were young" in multiple songs.
But this album as a whole is creeping up the ranks for me. I seriously cannot stop listening to it. blink forever.

Most skipped: Edging

Snuck up: See You

 

Favorite track: Turpentine

Most skipped: Fuck Face - 3 year old is in the car with me and I don't need her yelling "shut up." She already says GET THE ROPE enough.

Song that snuck up on me, that I repeat a lot now: Terrified

Other notes: Cut Me Off has grown a lot on me.. didn't get it at first but I love it now. You Don't Know What You Got and When We Were Young are probably at the bottom of the totem pole. Still get chills listening to Anthem Pt 3, Turpentine, One More Time and Other Side. Starting to learn some of the songs on guitar which usually gives me a new appreciation for songs I wasn't crazy about initially.

Most skipped: Edging

Favorite track: Terrified, Blink Wave, Bad News, Turpentine ;)

Snuck up: I hate to admit it, but Cut Me Off.

 

Love your notes! And I agree on play along with the guitar. It's even crazy how you hear things differently depending on what you're listening to the album on too, like AirPods, Laptop, Car, etc....

Favorite: Childhood or Bad News depending on my mood

Most Skipped: skipping is for losers. Although, as seen above, skipping due to your child being present is valid haha

Snuck Up On: Turn This Off!

 

Favorite: Bad News or Turpentine. Both top tier blink.
Most Skipped: I guess One More Time? Love the song but gotta be in the mood for it. No bad songs on the album though.
Biggest Grower: When We Were Young. I wasn't impressed by it at all on the first couple of listens, but I constantly catch myself singing that one.

 

Still doing entire playthroughs, and nothing has presented itself as a skipper. Fell In Love felt formulaic on first listen but that has been a grower. Love that it was a Travis idea and it is undeniably catchy.

 

My least listened to jams:

When We Were Young (I like the verses a lot, but the chorus bothers me)
One More Time
Edging (probably just due to overplaying it)
Other Side (just kinda meh on this one still)

I wouldn't say any of the songs are even close to bad though. There's just a couple I like a little less than others.

Im surprised at how many people haven’t preferred when we were young. That song is awesome and one of my favorites on the album.

 

Saaaaaame dude... man that song gets me so amped.

My condolences to everyone who is burnt on Edging and doesn't see it as a fundamental part of this record/era of the band. It was perfectly placed in the tracklisting IMO. It's the lift-off to the unreal back third of this album.
