Hahah. Had a feeling @heartstrings93 submitted that one after he disclosed that the round was his idea. There isn’t a more perfect song for it, it rightfully smashed

Some fun context to the SR-71 song that I couldn't fit in the comment on the app:

The "heavy metal man with his long hair" in the second verse was based on an actual guy who was at every SR-71 show I ever attended (which was a good number of them). He was unmissable in the crowd because he was freakishly tall and seemingly twice the age of everyone else in the crowd (if he was actually 37 like it says in the lyrics he must have been living ROUGH). He was always skanking and just generally going apeshit the entire show. Once they started playing this song live they would point at him during that verse and get him all gassed up.

One time at an outdoor show he tried to crowdsurf and got dropped on his head on the pavement and ended up leaving with the paramedics haha

 

I ran away with it and still can’t catch @trevorshmevor in the standings!

I loved the range of interpretations and genres for this prompt, thanks for indulging the idea y’all.

Other options for this week for me were: There’s No I In Team/Seventy Times 7, No It Isn’t by +44, and Dear John by Taylor Swift.

Adidon was my gut instinct choice that I made sure to lock down right at 8:00 and I regret switching! But I do love that Kacey song. My out of the box choice was Third Eye Blind “Forget Myself” - it’s not about a musician but it is about Charlize Theron. A different type of artist lol

 

Man I don’t keep songs around by artists I hate, so this week is going to be tough haha

 

I'm a HUGE 3EB fan and never knew this, guess I gotta go read up on it!!

 

I make a lot of mixes and very rarely I'll get a single song that makes the cut from an artist I don't usually like, so I'm going to dig back through some mixes and see what I can get to work.

Going to be interesting to see this playlist, I think there's going to be a lot of "WTF I love them!!"

 

This and the next round will for sure be the most unpredictable. People the most ambiguous two rounds in terms of voting interpretation

 

The artist I picked was already picked by someone else, but I still had to go through with. I listen to the song way too often to not pick it.

I thought about the voting interpretation too! LOL - as in, I wouldn't NOT vote for a song that someone picked in this round if I happened to love that artist. But some might!

 

Hard for me also cuz like Steve said, I don't usually populate playlists with songs by artists I "HATE".

There's plenty of artists I hate because of shitty stuff they've done, but picking one of their songs for this feels wrong. I went with a band that I'm indifferent about but really did catch my ear with one song.
