I tried to go to their website and it sent me back that message. I found humor in the idea that even their website takes too long to do things.

Lately I've just been grateful that we got daisy and devil and god and have accepted that maybe lp 5 will never happen and that's okay

how does it hold up for you? I like reading people's thoughts on Deja specifically because there's a lot of good and some not so good and in retrospect some things are intensified for people

its held up by mostly nostalgia. i still love it, but i often wonder how much i would love it if the first time i heard it was this year. probably not as much as i really do. which is fine, theres a reason its such a nostalgic record for me, ive been listening to it since i was 12 and have forged many personal connections with it. but unlike tdag and daisy, im not convinced it would have the same impact on me today if i had never heard it. thats not the case with the other two.

I'm in the same boat in thinking it wouldn't hit me like that today. I found it at the right time since it was one of the first records of this scene I heard that did what it did. So I'd call it formative in that regard, even if it doesn't really compare to the second half of their discography. It led me to the Smiths, Built To Spill, and Archers of Loaf via me getting really into them through this album and stumbling across their covers/interviews so I can't complain haha

I've Deja were released for the first time today, I think I'd like it, but I can't say it would be one of my favorites of the year. To be fair, 2016 is fucking ridiculous for new music, but I definitely think that a lot of my enjoyment stems from nostalgia and my history with it. It's a great, great album that means a lot to me, but it does feel a bit dated at times.

Tommy Gun would still crush me, though.

Deja and Bleed American introduced me to my love of music when i was very very young, i was like 9 or something. Deja is such a special record for me for that reason. it was without contest the most important album to me, personally, from the age i was introduced to it all the way up to honestly probably 18 (however from 16-18, TDAG and Daisy would eventually share that mantle with Deja, then go on to take it)

now im 22. i would say TDAG is my favorite album ever along with a couple others that are important to me. However, i really dont think any album could be as influential as Deja Entendu was for me at this point.

I used to think it was front loaded but Jaws Theme Swimming onward, including Guernica (despite some weird dated sounds), absolutely rocks. I think the biggest problems with the back half is the way it sounds, the songs are solid enough to compete with the first half. The whole thing suffers from drawing a little heavy on their influences but hey i don't mind so much.

i really disagree with Deja being a front heavy album. i mean, the back half has Jaws Theme, Me VS, Good To Know, and Play Crack which are some of the best songs imo

Deja kinda shaped my music taste when I was 14 so I'm not sure how to judge it outside of nostalgia

    all we have is time

Agreed. It may seem front heavy because the front is filled with BN 'classics' so to speak, but for me "Me VS.." and "Play Crack The Sky" at the very least even out the record just by themselves.

I remember listening to Deja back in like 4th or 5th grade and liking it, but I was in my blink and fob love affair and nothing was as good as them in my mind. I revisited Deja years later in high school and loved it. I feel lucky because it doesn't just feel like a nostalgia album to me now

I prefer the second half of Deja to the first. It's all 10/10 though.

Could be but in that case I would think they'd just include a picture since it is already out in the world

I loved Deja when it came out and I love it still. It is the only Brand New album for me that gets by on good songwriting alone; the others are all very much of specific moods/genres that make me less confident I'd care about them if they were released by an unknown in 2016. There are songs from TDAG and to a lesser extent Daisy that are superior to Deja in musicianship and production value but for me it's by far their best record beginning to end and from a quality of songs perspective.

I hope you had a great time at the show! I knew the setlist would be spoiled and thats ok, But I am having a hard time avoiding videos...I hope I can kind of keep a little mystery.

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

The stretch from The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot to Good to Know is phenomenal and better to me than the first half. I find a lot more replay value in those songs personally. Only reason I don't include Play Crack is because I tend to skip it due to not wanting to cry. Also can't stand the production on Sic Transit despite it being a great song.

Been out of the loop on the band since the announcement about the album. Have they said anything regarding new music or an album during this tour?
