This honestly haunts me as a possibility. She'd be worse than Saraya in AEW. Cant cut a promo, has no character worth following...and wouldnt even really stand out against Statlander, etc in size.

Yeah, gotta imagine its even worse for AEW truthfully. Its likely an issue at USA/TBS/TNT...but, clearly a way bigger issue on a network channel where reruns of some Tim Allen show from years ago probably pull better ad rates.

What keeps WWE/AEW/etc alive is they are a reason people subscribe to cable...and the PLE's are a reason to get Peacock month to month...it never made sense for an over the air channel to go with pro wrestling since it doesnt affect their fees, etc.

Smackdown had the 2nd highest ad rate of any broadcast show for Friday night. There's just a remaining stigma of wrestling fans that it's not worth advertising to them.
That said if WWE had to settle for a, what, 40% increase for Smackdown on another channel then there's a less than zero chance AEW gets a big increase if they get renewed at all. The sports rights fees boom is over. I think WWE and AEW need to move into just strictly streaming, even if they take an initial financial hit without a rights fee. Cable is basically dead and broadcast isn't doing much better.

Guess I should rephrase; they're pulling <50% of what the usual Fox shows pull for ad buys, and costs significantly more per episode to make (WWE makes $200mil/yr over 52 episodes...so, $4mil/episode, $2mil/hr of programming...against a normal of like $1.5mil/episode for scripted stuff, and likely even less for their reality programming).

Compared to when Last Man Standing was in that slot, they gotta be down big in ad revenue. And compared to running like Hells Kitchen or some Gordon Ramsay-like show, which costs half as much...

Yes, and that's because of the stigma from ad people around wrestling fans. It's been like that since at least the 90's

  9. Is smack down tonight a pre-recorded one?

Reading between the lines of SRS and Meltzer it sounds like WBD isn't offering near what Tony wants and that's why no extension.

It didn't seem to get aggregated or become a story but SRS flat out said earlier this week that they're apart on the library (presumably being added to MAX)

Bit late to the show, but that Creeds/Garza and Carrillo match on NXT this week was so so good.

Gonna be deeply funny when the reason a true competitor to WWE dies again is because the (very same network as the first time) is run by a deep, deep dumb ass again.

Like, obviously the AEW/ROH library isnt worth as much as the WWE NEtwork was to Peacock...and by any standard Peacock overpiad by a solid 2-3x...but, surely having AEW PPVs on network and getting like $10/PPV is worth a reliable revenue that seems weird to turn down when literally no new revenue option exists for them
