Saw this and it was great! It's perfect for Shudder, I think I already said that in this thread. Excited more people get to see it.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

no doubt. one thing I gotta give him is dude's sound design is really incredible. he just understands how sound can enhance a scene and make it that much scarier

  4. Sorry if this is kind of an annoying question, but how necessary is it that I watch Hell House 2 and 3 if I want to check out the new one? Y’all have put them down a lot, dunno if I wanna waste my time unless they’re needed to have the proper experience with 4

Not an annoying question at all, bro! (i don't have an answer since i haven't watched the new one yet, but wanted to make sure you knew it's a valid question)

I don’t think it’s overly necessary at all. There is certainly some connective tissue to both sequels but I personally think this new one would be seen fine by someone who has only seen HH. It could be a stand alone film but someone would have some questions about the importance of some references.

Yeah I have only seen HH and loved the new one. I really don’t have a reason to check out the others based on what I’ve heard.

  10. a good spooky whodunit but with no actual ghosts so a little disappointing in that regard

100%, one of my favorites from the 80s. Sleezy and cheesy and creative kills. 3 is good too. I remember catching it for the first time late at night on Showtime in like 7th or 8th grade and it blowing me away. Really influential film on my taste

At least you can somewhat process it at an older age. I saw that shit when I was in middle school.

So the listing on prime made me think the directors cut was around 2 hours which would be like a half hour of extra material

Just saw on Letterboxd that it’s only 4-5 minutes longer so I think I’ll watch the directors cut on my rewatch

haven’t seen it in so long that I wonder if I’ll be able to tell what’s added

Yeah I saw Kids way too young and then showed all my friends. I remember I watched it in clips on whatever primitive version of Youtube was available at the time. I'd open up the vids, pause it to let it load and go do something else until it was ready.

In 2009 my roommates and I ditched cable to save money, between the four of us we had SO many DVDs (shout out to that old Blockbuster bargain bin) so we exclusively watched movies/played video games for a while. One day I was stoned at home alone and randomly picked Kids lol, having never heard of it and having no synopsis to read since it was a Blockbuster box. Did not realize I was stepping on a landmine. Went down as one of my darkest days man
