I got free tickets to Dynamite since my GF works at Nike. I’m kind of glad I didn’t have to pay. I still love AEW, but they don’t have a lot of momentum right now and there’s nothing announced for the show. It also hurts that Rampage is live on Friday next week so we most likely ROH instead :/

i think TK is vastly underestimating how much of All In's momentum was based out of a UK debut, cheap tickets, and the draw of being a part of history. i am gonna bet this one peaks at like 50k until a month before the show and we see the true meltdown

 

AEW is incredibly gross right now and it makes my heart sad. 2019-2021 was nuts in the best of ways. It’s been a horrid 2022-2023, and sadly, a lot of this points to TK being so out of control with balance. Ya gotta hand it off at some point to more than Jimmy Jacobs and some others. There’s no North Star in AEW at all. There’s no meaning to most of the matches. It just feels hollow right now. I know that will change and something will become over with the fans, but I don’t think they’re going to be out of this hole for a while longer.

was Punk much of a factor? didn't he return like two months before? and his match was good but majorly inconsequential and only announced like two weeks in advance

they were gonna do Omega/Danielson before Danielson got hurt, bet we get that shit. bigger than punk imo

 

I think punk is a pretty decent draw for the UK crowd

Plus it was the worst kept secret all summer he was coming back

but if they draw less it’ll be more because of the reasons you stated

You can tell who the pros are who can write their own stories and create their own angles...and who cant. Like, there's a bunch of people who should be getting pushes, but they're getting lost in the shuffle because say a Jericho will come in and pitch a whole angle that gets run. They're definitely at the point where they need a long-term story person; tony tells them "I want X as Y champion next" and they're in charge of scripting it out.

Punk (and the matches they announced like Omega/Ospreay, etc) were definitely what took it from maybe 70k-80k...but it solid like 50k tickets out of the gates with no matches announced, etc. The draw was definitely the UK, Wembley, big show...sorta like the original All In was about the bet.

And I imagine it becomes like Grand Slam...sold 20k the first year...about 70% of that the 2nd year...had to paper over the final week to even get 50% the original event. Only exception might be if AEW drops All Out and makes All In their WM-level event.
