I’m just a fan of Mark beating the shit out of his drums haha plus that half-time final chorus after the solo is just great.

I like John a lot too but I think he’s just as bad as Adam most of the time live

    Better than you, sorry

John seems so underutilized. The production on this album is great but I’m not a fan of anything else.
Listened to Where You Want To Be today. Production wasn’t great but everything else was so good.
Blink had a return to form. I have faith tbs will one day return to form.

  7. Hope this sets off another decade of the band cranking out stuff just like this. That would rule.

I agree. I am hoping for them to have a decade under this influence.

Yeah there’s been live videos I’ve seen where it looks like he’s barely playing his guitar or he’ll go to sing a line from TAYF, WYWTB or Louder Now and either whiff it or sing it with no intensity at all. But other performances he’s totally on-point.

My fiances hot take: it's too autotuned, and when I said I felt that they needed to shake things up a bit, she pointed out the very valid point that she feels that they shake things up with every new album they put out.

I couldn't really argue with that second point tbh, I still enjoy it though

Maybe it’s because this is so fresh and new and exciting to me, but I tried to shuffle in the rest of their discography over the weekend and something just felt like it was missing so I went back to this alone. I’m sure in due time that’ll wear off, but I think there’s a pretty big shift in songwriting here.

I think one factor in the less John vocals might be how Adam’s voice has evolved. It is a little more gruff, to the point where their voices aren’t really contrasting each other as much as they did on TAYF.

I truly don't enjoy this album, mostly because some of the lyrics are the worst and most generic they've ever done. I do appreciate them going in a new direction, but it just doesn't work for me.

I agree with everyone who has said "where's John?"

For a band that has consistently tried to say they aren’t a nostalgia act for over a decade now, I think this is their most successful attempt at proving that.

Really, the only beef I have with this album is how short it is and how some of the songs have great things going on in the music that I really wish lasted longer, like the end of Keep Going.

I guess it's an unfortunate reality that shorter songs probably have more mainstream success, but it would have been great to groove with some of these parts for way longer on the full album.

John's all over the album too, though mostly in the harmonies, I did expect a bit more of the solo lines from him like in The One (love that part). There's still contrast between their voices for sure!

I agree that the length of some of the songs could have been stretched but overall I like that they didn't force any unnecessary tunes...just 10 jams packed in to 30 mins

I wanted to complain about a lack of Nolan vocals but just listened to Straylight's first album after this to scratch the itch.

love hearing him evolve instrumentally through these albums and the harmonies are still solid.

I wish John had more vocals in here but when I do hear him it's very nice and I like it

  24. to people who say the lyrics are bad I must ask a follow up question: have you ever listened to a Taking Back Sunday album before? more or less these are what the writing style has always been

I will say these lyrics feel a bit more disjointed to me and not as straight forward, but that's been the trend since they got back together TBH.
