Chorus doesn’t have that pulsing dynamic nature the original does by my ear, the synths are just a bit more straight down the line instead of getting overwhelmed by the bass/snare when they hit.

A total nitpick but it’s one of my favorite songs of hers so I went to it right away lol. Super interesting to hear some of her different vocal flourishes on this though!

 

I’m not super keen on all this stuff but my friend is very upset and says the mixing on style and shake it off are a much worse quality

 

Yeah something definitely isn’t popping in the chorus of Style like the original.

 

Ok on the other hand Out of the Woods sounds pretty fantastic. Feels like there is way more depth to the instrumental… really digging it!

 

Out of the Woods might be the first I like better than the original. A little more tribal-ish drums. Not surprising since this is the first Antonoff one

I never ever ever listen to the Taylor's versions, so I'm not concerned with how different they sound, but I'm excited to hear the vault tracks

 

I believe whatever conspiracy theories y’all have about the vault tracks not being written/recorded fully until recently. Every single one of these could’ve fit in Midnights.

Do you think Max Martin is annoyed that he's getting less money from the Taylor's Version tracks because he didn't produce them? Or does he just have so much money that he doesn't care?

I think a couple of the vault songs sound 1989 esque, at least some parts. Maybe she only had choruses written back then. Who knows.

Okay so don't kill me but "Welcome To New York" TV is better than the OG version. I don't really listen to the non-Vault tracks but I might do this specific song in the future.
