I laughed out loud at the finish to "Turpentine." It's so quintessentially Blink. No one else could pull that off and have me not dislike it.

 

Yeah, those Seattle prices also rose within a few minutes of going on sale. It’s an absolute scam. $150 is similar to what FOB prices are, but that tour is also not selling well at all so it might not be a good comparison. I expect this to sell super well especially since this is the first show back in Portland on a Saturday night. I just hope I can get tickets without worrying about the secondary market haha

The musical and lyrical chaos of Turpentine can't help but me make me think of this scene from The Lighthouse when they also dabble with some turpentine....

Turpentine is wild. When I first heard it I was all "is this a joke song or a super cool push forward" I think it is both. I can tell you the time signature has been rolling around my brain all morning and I have been tapping the beat on loop. I love the anecdotes from the blink crew about the album. Mark said they won't do press they don't want to do in the Zane interview. Respect it, but I do hope we get some more interviews from each individual member.

 

I know they sold out Hartford which is 30k for the first reunion, and this tour will probably do better based on how shit sold for this reunion tour

 

Paramore sold out the same venue in Indy this past summer so I think blink should

 

I think the more absurd lines on "Turpentine" work for me because they're not part of a literal narrative, they're representations of intrusive thoughts stemming from anxiety. Like in the context of the song, which is largely about feeling lost and mentally broken:

"Stick your dick in Ovaltine
Snort a bag of dramamine
Douse yourself in gasoline
Throw up in a limousine"

These are all just self-destructive behaviors one may contemplate during periods of extreme self-loathing, not literal events occuring within the song.

Once while in line at a buffet, I remembered something embarassing I did in 7th grade, and immediately wanted to crush my face in the Panini press. I feel like that's the type of vibe these lyrics have.

 

Quickly coming for that "most played of 2023" spot ...

nfg is one of my all time favorite bands, i heard it immediately. like the first time i heard this nfg track. the song and especially the bridge is a total blink homage!
