I support Palestine and think Israel has done a lot of horrible, terroristic attacks against them. I also think Hamas killing children is one of the worst things someone could do

i'll tell you right now. you'll be hard pressed to find one of these Palestinian resistance groups that hasn't done something that fits under the definition of terrorism.

The hypocrisy I’m seeing is making me lose my mind, probably been reading Reddit too much. “There’s no justification for this kind of violence, therefore we are fully justified in committing more acts of violence.”

this is going to get a lot worse, a lot more innocent people are going to die.

 

you’d think this thread would know better than the “but it will turn public opinion against them!” bullshit when it’s already against them and also how many times has the graph of how unpopular MLK and the civil rights movement was been posted

The Al Aqsa Flood wont help public opinion. But it did help Gazans step out of their cage for the first time.

Also the operation is supported by the majority of Palestinians and the 8 or so other resistance organizations that are taking part. But they're not the popular opinion.

 

People are worried about their image on social media while other people are being killed, left homeless and losing their whole family... That it is "First world problems" personified.

 

Hamas is not acting with the intent of winning over anyone to their side. To condemn them for it is to miss the point: they exist solely because of the increasing apartheid state and ethnic cleansing of all Palestine. They exist because Israel wanted them to, they are and have been historically useful politically for Israel. To honestly engage with the situation is to dismantle the notion of dictating how Palestine should go about fighting for their freedom, because Israel shows no signs of allowing any other possibility of self-determination and statehood for Palestine. Resist the framing of both sides being equally bad and violent because in terms of scale, they just absolutely aren't. Palestinian civilians and children are dead and have been dying for decades, it's not supporting the tactics of Hamas to recognize why this is happening and who to fault for it.

 

Specifying in terms of scale is super accurate and appreciate that distinction.

Of course both are equally horrible. I was clearly condemning Israel as well in my post.

I'm not gonna use "an eye for an eye" as an excuse to murder innocent kids haha. Both groups are horrible for it.

 

I think we should be able to give each other the benefit of the doubt that none of us on here want children to die. If we can’t do that, we should probably all just stop.

 

If you’re gonna be mad at what Russia has done to Ukraine, then you should be just as mad at Israel because they’ve done the same thing for decades and have gotten away with it.
